FRANKFORT, IL — The Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration is now accepting donations of gently used items to stock its brand-new thrift store, located at 21420 S. Harlem Ave., in Frankfort.
Community members are invited to donate gently used furniture, live houseplants and plant babies, home decor, housewares, record albums, books, DVDs, jewelry, antiques and collectibles, clothing and more, according to a news release from the business.
Donations can be dropped off at the designated donation drop area on the north side of the building during pre-grand opening donation hours, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., leading up to a grand opening on Oct. 25.
“When you donate items to Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration, you are supporting a local organization that is impacting local teens through the free programs and events offered at The Bridge Teen Center,” Priscilla Steinmetz, Founder and Executive Director of The Bridge Teen Center and Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration, said in a release.
This new location will be the second thrift store established to financially support the mission of The Bridge Teen Center, a nonprofit based in Orland Park. The Bridge offers free programs and events designed to help teens develop holistically in a safe, supportive environment, the business said.
Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration will also expand The Bridge’s “Thriftastic” Job Readiness Program, which equips teens with real-world job skills they can use throughout their future careers. The store will also provide community services opportunities for students and local residents.
“This is another major step towards reaching more teens in more communities,” said Steinmetz. “We’re excited to open our doors in Frankfort and create a crucial new revenue stream to keep our programming free for the students and families we serve.”
Each year, over $850,000 must be raised to keep The Bridge Teen Center’s programs free and accessible to local students and families, the business said. Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration will serve as an additional sustainable source of revenue.
The Bridge is kindly asking donors to only bring items during official donation hours - Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to refrain from dropping off items after hours.
