Home Care Orem, UT

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Early Orem Canals Historic Monument gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Orem, UT is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Orem, UT?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Asado Argentinian Grill and Cafe or visit Orem Heritage Museum, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Orem, UT, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Orem, UT

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your UT's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Orem, UT

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Orem, UT understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Orem, UT

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Orem, UT

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Lake Ridge Senior Living
  • Summerfield Retirement
  • Treeo Orem
  • Covington Senior Living of Orem Utah
  • Rocky Mountain Care- Spring Hollow
  • Rezealiant Living

In two weeks, the same Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated two temples — on two different continents.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Orem Utah Temple today, Sunday, January 21, just seven days after he dedicated the Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple on January 14.

The dedication of the Orem Utah Temple “marks a milestone in the progress of the kingdom of God on the Earth, and particularly in this vital part of His vineyard,” said Elder Christofferson.

The three-story, 71,998-square-foot temple is Utah’s 19th dedicated house of the Lord; another nine temples await dedication or are under construction.

Elder Christofferson was accompanied by his wife, Katherine. Also participating were Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Jennifer; Elder Hugo Martinez, General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the Utah Area Presidency, and his wife, Nuria; Elder Kevin R. Duncan, General Authority Seventy and executive director of the Temple Department, and his wife, Nancy; and Elder Jonathan S. Schmitt, General Authority Seventy and assistant executive director of the Temple Department, and his wife, Alexis.

Elder Christofferson said Latter-day Saints can find heavenly help and eternal perspective through their temple attendance.

“What had seemed overwhelming and impossible can, with the Lord’s help, find resolution, and we are more certain of His help,” he said. “…In short, with our time in the temple we have been refined, even if only in a small degree, and heaven is that much closer.”

Elder Christofferson noted that Latter-day Saints first entered the Orem area when Brigham Young sent several dozen families to establish Fort Utah along the Provo River in 1849.

The city wasn’t named until 1919, when “Orem” was chosen in honor of Walter C. Orem, who was president of the electric railroad than ran between Salt Lake and Provo.

Ten years later, Elder Stephen L. Richards of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles created Orem’s first stake, the Sharon Stake. “Explosive” population growth led to many more stakes and to the creation of the Utah Orem Mission.

“Today we dedicate this magnificent temple, a testament to the faith of many generations, with the promise of more faithful, covenant-keeping generations to come,” Elder Christofferson said.

Elder Robert T. Smith, an Area Seventy, said the announcement of a temple in Orem by Church President Russell M. Nelson in 2019 “was a joy and an unexpected, miraculous surprise” for Orem Saints, especially because other temples were nearby.

In Utah, the Orem temple is one of the 28 temples dedicated or under construction or being renovated. Elder Smith said that during a recent visit to the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple, he looked out from the building’s east side and saw several other temples.

“I feel like we’re living in the days when the revelations of the prophets are bringing to pass the prophecies of old and the inspired feelings of faithful Church members. This beautiful temple is part of fulfilling that prophetic destiny,” Elder Smith said.

The Church will dedicate the Red Cliffs Utah Temple on March 24, 2024, the Taylorsville temple on June 2 and the Layton temple on June 16, 2024.

During the past few years, the Church has been renovating its three pioneer-era temples. The St. George Utah Temple was rededicated on December 10, 2023, and work is continuing on the Salt Lake and Manti temples. The six other Utah temples under construction are Deseret Peak, Ephraim, Heber Valley, Lindon, Smithfield and Syracuse.

How the Orem Utah Temple will bless local students, young adults, community members

The Orem Utah Temple will bless people from all walks of life.

But with nearly 45,000 students at Utah Valley University — located just a stone’s throw from the new temple — and almost 35,000 students at nearby Brigham Young University, a significant portion of those people will undoubtedly be young single adults.

And Elder Adilson de Paula Parrella, General Authority Seventy, wants his “YSA friends” to know that the temple can help them be happy now, whatever their circumstances are.

“When we think and talk of YSAs, usually people [think about] marriage, which is very important. It is a blessing,” Elder Parrella said. “But when I think about the YSA population in this area, I’m thinking about them participating in every ordinance of the temple and ... [finding] peace, comfort [and] happiness in their journey.”

Elder Parrella took special guests and local media representatives on a tour of the Orem Utah Temple on Monday, Oct. 23.

On the same day, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released more than a dozen interior and exterior images of the three-story, 71,998-square-foot sacred edifice built in a prominent, visible location just off Interstate 15 and near Utah Valley University.

Available on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, the photos were accompanied by a three-minute video offering additional looks inside and out of the temple.

The Orem temple will be the state’s 19th dedicated temple, with another nine temples awaiting dedication or under construction.

Public open house tours begin Friday, Oct. 27, and run through Saturday, Dec. 16, excluding Sundays and Thanksgiving Day, with special-guest tours set for Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 24-26.

Reservations for the public tours, which are recommended and available online, are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Orem Utah Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, in two sessions, at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all meetinghouses in the temple district.

‘The temple is a place for me’

Just prior to Monday’s special guest and media tour, Sister Reyna I. Aburto, former second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, said although several other temples are near Orem, the community will be blessed by having a temple directly in its midst.

The new temple “makes a difference because it’s more visible, and it just adds to the beauty of this place. ... The light of Jesus Christ comes from it,” she said.

Sister Aburto, an Orem resident, noted the temple’s particular significance to UVU students, who will have easier access to the temple’s peace, knowledge and power. She encouraged young single adults to not delay making covenants simply because they haven’t reached a certain age or milestone.

“[Covenant-making] doesn’t have to be because of a mission or marriage. We can be endowed as soon as we become adults and as soon as we’re ready to make those covenants,” Sister Aburto said.

She added that the Lord is always preparing people for service opportunities. “So for young adults to be able to come to the temple and serve there, [to] go out and serve Him, I think is a wonderful thing.”

Orem Utah Hillcrest Stake President Chad Wayne Lewis — a former BYU football player and NFL tight end — said that, in the language of football, the Orem temple is a “Super Bowl” for the city. But the temple isn’t for just one day a year. “It’s going to be here forever,” he said. “And it’s here to help usher in the second coming of the Savior Jesus Christ.”

President Lewis continued that the temple is an invitation to feel the peace, love and light offered by Jesus Christ. Everyone who visits the Orem temple, especially during its open house, will feel that love and peace, he promised.

UVU student Grace Miller, a young single adult and vice-president of the Utah Valley Institute of Religion Student Council, said she loves seeing the temple from campus. Its light is a beacon of hope, stability and comfort, she said, and now she has a constant visual reminder of those feelings as she studies.

“The temple is a place for me,” Miller said. “Please come and feel close to heaven during this Orem temple open house. There is so much joy, comfort and peace to be found there. It truly is a place for you.”

Young single adults share their feelings

Following Monday’s tour, several young single adults shared their feelings about the Orem temple.

Angel Tapé, a student from Ivory Coast living in Orem, helped distribute shoe coverings to tour members. Tapé said she volunteered for the job because she loves serving people and added that she loves having a temple close to home.

God wants His children to be closer to Him, she said. “That’s why ... everyone can make a covenant with Him so that they can have better lives and they can know how to be prepared to return to Him.”

UVU student body president Zac Whitlock also volunteered during Monday’s temple tour. He said the Orem temple is a “pillar” in the community and something that UVU students see all day.

The temple is beautiful on the outside, but that’s not as important as what happens inside it, Whitlock said.

“Go to the temple. Let the temple change you,” he advised his fellow students. “Especially with finals and tests and all the stress of college life, go to the temple. It puts everything into perspective, because in reality, the temple is real life. ... It’ll change us. It’s changed me.”

Miller added that greater temple access is especially important to local young adults because of the many decisions they’re navigating, from their studies and careers to their friendships and dating relationships.

But young single adults definitely aren’t the only ones who will be blessed by the Orem temple, she continued. People of all backgrounds will benefit from it.

“I feel like there [are] so many people that have accumulated in Orem that are [from] all different walks of life,” Miller said. “To have this constant reminder that you can see from the freeway and from down on University Parkway ... shows that God is here.

“He hasn’t forgotten our little Orem, Utah.”

More information about the Orem temple

A temple for Orem was one of eight locations announced on Oct. 5, 2019, by President Russell M. Nelson during the Saturday evening women’s session of general conference.

The three-story edifice with a single attached central spire is located on a 15.39-acre tract at 1471 S. Geneva Road in Orem, just west of Interstate 15 and Utah Valley University. The First Presidency announced the temple site on Dec. 11, 2019, and released the exterior rendering on June 24, 2020.

It was the first of the eight to begin construction when Elder Craig C. Christensen, a General Authority Seventy and then president of the Utah Area, presided at the Sept. 5, 2020, groundbreaking ceremony.

Announced by the First Presidency four months ago, the temple’s dedication date had drawn increased interest since President Nelson had announced plans to reconstruct the Provo Utah Temple, located less than five miles away. That closure is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2024.

The Orem temple is one of the Church’s 28 total temples — dedicated, under construction or renovation — in Utah.

The state’s currently operating temples are the Bountiful, Brigham City, Cedar City, Draper, Jordan River, Logan, Monticello, Mount Timpanogos, Ogden, Oquirrh Mountain, Payson, Provo, Provo City Center, Saratoga Springs and Vernal temples.

Besides the Orem temple’s pending dedication, the Red Cliffs Utah Temple’s dedication is scheduled for spring 2024.

Three pioneer-era temples have undergone renovations in the past several years, with the St. George Utah Temple to be rededicated in December. Work continues on the Salt Lake and Manti temples.

Eight other Utah temples are under construction: Deseret Peak, Ephraim, Heber Valley, Layton, Lindon, Smithfield, Syracuse and Taylorsville.

The Orem Utah Temple was first announced at the October 2019 general conference. Construction began on September 5, 2020. The 70,000-square-foot temple sits on a 15.39-acre site at 1471 S Geneva Rd, just west of Interstate 15 and near Utah Valley University.

Located between the Wasatch Mountains and the shores of Utah Lake, the Orem Utah Temple is an ideal location on a site settled by Norwegian immigrants who arrived in Utah in 1864. As converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, generations of the Williamsen family homesteaded the 15 acres that were eventually purchased by the Church in 2004. The area, known as Lake View, was home to many fruit orchards. For that reason, the cherry blossom is the main design element of the interior finishes in the art glass, wood panels and metal handrails.

Similar to the exterior, the interior is simple, with natural materials. The design and finishes complement the ordinances and the significant patron areas. The use of marble wainscots and wood columns is common throughout the temple. The detail of the columns, coffered ceilings, and marble wainscot is more articulated as one moves through the ordinance rooms, culminating in the celestial room. The woodwork is painted, and the wall coverings are subtle, allowing the attention to remain on what takes place in the various rooms. The secondary spaces are simpler yet lovely.

By design, the Orem Utah Temple is unique to its location; however, the images in the art glass and cherry blossom design element pay homage to the history of the site and the culture of the surrounding area.

Orem Temple Media Day

On the morning of Monday, October 23, journalists and other invited guests walked through this new house of the Lord.

“We have 335 temples either operating temples and announced temples or temples under construction, and this is the 186th temple in the Church,” said Elder Adilson de Paula Parrella, assistant executive director of the Temple Department.

Elder Parrella said Utah County will have six temples and the new Orem temple will serve more than 57,000 Latter-day Saints in the area.

“I can't believe we have a temple in my hometown,” said Chad Lewis, president of the Orem Hillcrest Stake. “It's a miracle to have a temple right here in Family City, USA, where families can be sealed together forever.”

Latter-day Saints consider temples to be the most sacred spaces on earth and literal houses of the Lord where families can be joined together forever.

“I have peace knowing my family can live together again,” said Grace Miller, a student at Utah Valley University, located near the Orem temple.

Reyna I. Aburto, a member of the Orem Utah Temple open house committee and a former counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, conducted Monday’s news conference.

“I couldn't be more excited,” said Jacob Luke, 17, a local youth volunteer. “This one is my temple.”

Latter-day Saint youth from the area are excited about the new temple and are serving as volunteers during the open house.

“I'm really excited for this because it's always nice to have a temple right next to your house so you can come find the peace in this crazy world and have a little time with Heavenly Father,” said Claire Hirschi, 12, who was at the temple on Monday with two of her sisters.

“The temple is a good place for me to regroup and put things back into perspective when life gets crazy, and so I'm just so excited to have one so close to home just down the street,” said 17-year-old Mikelle Hirschi.

“I personally consider temples to be just a little pocket of heaven,” said 16-year-old youth volunteer Seth Johnson. “The temple is a place where we go to work on sacred covenants, to work on our relationship with Heavenly Father.”

The ceremonies within each temple teach the purpose of life and unite families, past and present. The temples in communities around the globe remind Latter-day Saints of the importance of faith in the common Father of all humanity, the need for constant improvement of the soul, the possibility of family relationships that reach beyond the grave, and the salvation that comes only through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Utah has a total of 28 houses of the Lord. Temples currently in operation in the state are found in American Fork (Mount Timpanogos), Bountiful, Brigham City, Cedar City, Draper, Logan, Monticello, Ogden, Payson, Provo (Provo City Center and Provo Utah), Saratoga Springs, South Jordan (Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain) and Vernal. New temples under construction in Utah are in Ephraim, Heber Valley, Layton, Lindon, Smithfield, Syracuse, Taylorsville, and Tooele (Deseret Peak). The Manti Utah Temple and the Salt Lake Utah Temple are currently under renovation. The St. George Utah Temple will be rededicated on December 10, 2023, and the Red Cliffs Utah Temple in Washington County will be dedicated by President Henry B. Eyring, Second Counselor in the First Presidency on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The tours for the Orem Utah Temple are expected to take about 40 minutes.

After a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is built or has undergone an extensive renovation, it is opened for public tours prior to being dedicated or rededicated. After the dedication or rededication, Church members with temple recommends can enter to perform sacred ordinances.

The Orem temple will be dedicated on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, in two sessions, at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all meetinghouses in the Orem Utah Temple district.

The groundbreaking was Sept. 5, 2020, and Elder Craig C. Christensen, a General Authority Seventy and then president of the Utah Area, presided at the ceremony.

The Orem Utah Temple is one of 14 temples in Utah that are under construction, being renovated or awaiting dedication or rededication.

Three temples — the Brasília Brazil Temple, Bentonville Arkansas Temple and the Moses Lake Washington Temple — were dedicated on Sept. 17. It was the first time in the Church’s history that three temples were dedicated on the same day.
