St. LOUIS – The Delmar Loop is celebrating Cinco De Mayo with its third annual Taco Crawl. Eight restaurants in the Delmar Loop are participating with a wide range of flavor options, celebrating the famed corridor’s diversity.
“Some of them are more traditional Mexican style and some of them have some cultural fusion. So these are unique tacos that you won’t get anywhere else,” Samantha Smugala, ececutive director of the East Loop Community Improvement District, said.
Session Taco is one of the restaurants involved and they’re offering a fan favorite as part of the crawl.

“We are really excited to be a part of it because we’re already doing Cinco de Mayo, so we’re already expecting some good business, but this is a great way to just showcase the taco that we’re most proud of,” Josh Laney, Session Taco’s director of operations, said. “We’re proud of all of them but the very popular one that we have is the mango habanero shrimp taco. That’s been a guest favorite for the longest time.”
Trial begins as Brentwood businesses fight to keep storefront
For Hazelwood Resident Rachel Bray, they celebrate Cinco De Mayo every year, but this year they’ve switched up their plans.
“We love all of the things food related but we are also trying to be very appreciative of the cultural aspect too,” she said. “We usually go to Cherokee Street, but our plans didn’t align yesterday, so this taco crawl is very much up my alley, up my family’s alley. Very excited to check it out, get tickets.”

And for Session Taco, they’re happy to be a part of this community and participate in the celebration.
“We’re so excited. We look forward to this every single year,” Laney said. “This is our first location. … It’s such a great location being the original spot for us. So we’re just really happy to be a part of the Delmar area.”
The Delmar Loop not only celebrating today, but celebrating their community everyday.
“We have such a diverse array of businesses, of people, of visitors. And we want everyone to feel reflected in the events that we have,” Smugala said. “I think we’ve got a lot of restless people after the weekend being stuck inside. It’s a little gloomy but we’ve got a way to brighten up your Monday, come out for Cinco De Mayo.”
