Maryland Gov. Wes Moore joined executive leadership from McLaren on Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of the custom-built facility, located at the Tradepoint Atlantic industrial complex on the former Bethlehem Steel site.
The more than $11 million development is designed to serve as a hub for vehicle shipments across the nation. It will handle final preparation, finishing, and quality control for McLaren supercars imported into the Americas.

The Board of Public Works cleared the grant for the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy on Wednesday. The land trust will use the Rural Legacy program funds to acquire a 31.9-acre permanent conservation easement within the Gunpowder Rural Legacy Area in Baltimore County.
State officials said the easement will safeguard active agricultural fields, woodlands, and stream buffers that feed into the watershed for the Loch Raven Reservoir, a primary source of drinking water for the Baltimore metropolitan area. The preserved land will also protect scenic views along the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail.

According to state prosecutors, Maslow carried out the fraud between May 2015 and May 2019 after multiple insurance carriers had terminated his agency contracts. To continue collecting money, Maslow submitted more than 75 life insurance applications falsely claiming they were sold and filed by other licensed insurance agents.
The fraudulent applications covered Maslow’s friends, family members, and Maslow himself. Investigators said Maslow persuaded some individuals to apply by promising to pay their initial premiums, while other applications were submitted entirely without the policyholders’ knowledge or consent. Maslow also impersonated both agents and applicants during phone calls with insurance companies to push the policies through.
Once insurance providers approved the applications, they issued substantial upfront sales commissions intended for the agents listed on the paperwork. Maslow directed these payments into joint bank accounts he had established, then immediately transferred the money into accounts under his exclusive control.
After securing the payouts, Maslow stopped making premium payments, causing the policies to lapse for nonpayment.
Under the terms of a binding plea agreement, Maslow will serve 30 days of incarceration followed by five years of supervised probation. He must also pay full restitution and agree to the permanent revocation of his insurance producer’s license.
If Maslow violates the conditions of his probation, he faces up to four years and 11 months of additional prison time. Formal sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 23.
The case was investigated jointly by the Fraud and Corruption Unit of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office and the Maryland Insurance Administration, with assistance from the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Homer moves to Baltimore County from the Worcester Public Library in Massachusetts, where he has served as executive director since 2020. During his tenure in Worcester, he spearheaded efforts to expand digital equity, broaden technology access, and strengthen ties with schools and local civic organizations. In 2025, Library Journal named him a “Mover & Shaker: Change Agent” in recognition of his community-focused leadership.
His administrative career also includes management roles at the Morse Institute Library, Marlborough Public Library, and Wellesley Free Library in Massachusetts. Homer holds a bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College and a master’s degree in library and information science from Simmons University.
