“Jaye has been a great caregiver for my Mom. Jaye writes detailed care notes about Mom's day so that we know what is going on even if we live out of town. She goes the extra mile to get Mom out in the sun when the weather is nice and she paints Mom's fingernails, which Mom enjoys. Jaye doesn't hesitate to contact us if Mom needs something or if she has questions. We feel lucky to have her.”

“We used Always Best Care Senior Services to assist with 24/7 care in the home of my mother in law. We had used 4 different agencies prior to Always Best, they were exceptional. The quality, compassionate care of the care givers was unmatched and if there was ever a call out - a substitute was sent with in 2 hours. Such peace of mind! I was so impressed with the organization that I ended shifting trajectories in my career and now I am an employee. It was the best decision I ever made! I don't know what took me so long to change! “I am writing for my mother Alice Pearce. We are very happy with the care provided by Jaye. She goes above and beyond in providing loving care for our mother. She always has a good handoff with the previous caregiver and the subsequent caregiver, making sure they know how mother is and what she needs. Mother loves a shower and Jaye is thoughtful in fitting them in when mother wants one and always has her presentable for family visits. She is a good cook and is sensitive to what mother will enjoy, so her appetite is better on Jaye's shift. She is a good communicator with the family and always puts in informative shift notes. She has technical skills. Recently, the facility got a new wifi and she updated the equipment so it all worked. I usually get those calls and she fixed everything without my involvement. She is very flexible and will stay late and take on extra shifts at the last minute. We are indeed fortunate that she is caring for our dear mother.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Staley, NC?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Staley, NC, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your NC's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Staley, NC

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Staley, NC understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Staley, NC

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Staley, NC

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Home Care Staley, NC

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Remember - our staff is here to help. Contact our office today to learn more about assisted living communities and how we can find a facility that exceeds your expectations.

Befitting her team’s NCAA championship and undefeated record, South Carolina’s Dawn Staley ended up lapping the women’s college basketball public-school coaching field when it comes to bonuses this season for team performance.

She finishes the season with $680,000 in bonuses, to go with her $3.1 million in basic annual compensation from the school. That’s the maximum she could achieve under her contract.

The agreement includes 11 steps to reach the maximum, beginning with $15,000 for winning at least 11 Southeastern Conference regular season games and ending with $15,000 for the team finishing in the top 25 of either the USA TODAY Coaches poll or the Associated Press media poll. Both of the final polls were published Monday.

In between, Staley gained $100,000 for sweeping the SEC regular season and tournament titles in the same season; $500,000 for the NCAA title; and $25,000 apiece for SEC and national coach-of-the-year honors.

The next-highest bonus total belongs to NCAA runner-up Iowa’s Lisa Bluder, who will pick up $310,000, according to tracking by USA TODAY Sports based on contracts acquired through open-records requests.

FOLLOW THE MADNESS: NCAA basketball bracket, scores, schedules, teams and more.

However, in addition to the bonuses, Bluder also is due a pair of one-year contract extensions and a $150,000 pay increase that is set to become effective July 1. The two added years will extend her agreement with the school through June 30, 2031. In combination with the pay increase, they will add $3.85 million to the scheduled value of her contract, with $2.3 million of that guaranteed.

Bluder’s basic compensation from Iowa for her current contract year is $1.4 million.

Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma had the third-highest season bonus total at $262,500. The Huskies lost to Iowa in the national semifinals.

He was followed by North Carolina State’s Wes Moore, whose total increased to $200,000 on Monday when he added $50,000 for the Wolfpack finishing among the top 15 teams in either of the final polls (they were No. 4 in both). N.C. State lost to South Carolina in the national semifinals.

Below is an itemized, school-by-school list for all public-school coaches whose teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament round of 16, alphabetical by school.

In addition to those, the top bonus totals belonged to:

Mississippi's Yolett McPhee-McCuin ($105,000); Kansas State's Jeff Mittie ($80,400); North Carolina's Courtney Banghart ($80,000);

Nebraska's Amy Williams ($71,500); Oklahoma's Jennie Baranczyk ($65,000); Ohio State's Kevin McGuff ($60,000); Alabama's Kristy Curry, Kansas' Jeff Schneider and Texas A&M's Joni Taylor ($50,000 each).

The list does not take into account contingencies that could alter or prevent payment of bonuses, such as academic achievement by players, the coach's departure from the school, future investigations and/or sanctions related to rules violations. It also does not include bonuses for national coach-of-the-year honors not yet announced, team academic performance, attendance, season-ticket sales, or the value of tickets or perks tied to tournament participation.

This also does not include bonuses and/or pay increases for assistant coaches, staff and athletics directors that also may be resulting from these achievements.

Amounts for coaches at private schools are not available because those institutions are not required to release their employment contracts.

Colorado: JR Payne - $165,000

Connecticut: Geno Auriemma - $262,500

Indiana: Teri Moren - $125,000

Iowa: Lisa Bluder - $310,000

CLEVELAND (AP) — South Carolina has joined an elite group, becoming the 10th NCAA Division I women’s basketball team to go through a season undefeated.

UConn was the last program to accomplish the feat, in 2016, and this year’s Gamecocks team might be the most surprising member of the club. Coach Dawn Staley lost all five starters from last season’s team that went into the Final Four unbeaten before losing to Caitlin Clark and Iowa. This time around, the Gamecocks used their size and depth to beat the Hawkeyes 87-75 on Sunday for the title.

South Carolina had a couple scares throughout the season. The Gamecocks were down at the half to Duke, LSU and Tennessee during the regular season. The biggest threat occurred in the SEC Tournament semifinals when they needed a last-second 3-pointer from Kamilla Cardoso to beat Tennessee and keep the perfect run alive.

The nine historic teams that South Carolina joined:

1985-86 Texas

The Longhorns were the first to go unbeaten, finishing at 34-0. They averaged 83.9 points a game and that was before the 3-point line. Texas cruised through the tournament, winning its first two games by 41 and 26 points. The Longhorns had a scare in the regional final before running through the Final Four with a 35-point win over Western Kentucky and a 16-point victory over Southern California to win the championship.

1994-95 UConn

This was the first of 11 championships for the Huskies. Geno Auriemma’s squad was led by AP Player of the Year Rebecca Lobo. She averaged 17.1 points while shooting 50% from the field. UConn won its tournament games by an average of 25.3 points with the closest contest coming against Virginia, which ended up losing by four.

The Huskies beat Pat Summitt and Tennessee in the championship game.

1997-98 Tennessee

After losing to UConn in 1995, Tennessee won three consecutive titles. The last of them was a 39-0 season when Summitt’s squad was led by the “Three Meeks” — Semeka Randall, Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamika Catchings. Holdsclaw won the first of her two straight AP Player of the Year awards. The Lady Vols capped their historic run with a 93-75 victory over Louisiana Tech in the title game.

2001-02 UConn

This was the beginning of a run of three straight national championships for the Huskies. This team had a star-studded lineup that included five future pros in Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Swin Cash, Tamika Williams and Asjha Jones. The quintet each averaged more than 10 points per game. They ran through the NCAA Tournament, when the only game that was within 18 points was the title victory over Oklahoma.

2008-10 UConn

UConn had two straight undefeated seasons that were part of a 90-game winning streak that broke the UCLA men’s record for consecutive victories. The Huskies were led by the superstar trio of Maya Moore, Renee Montgomery and Tina Charles, who combined to average over 50 points a game in 2009. The team’s closest game in the 2009 tournament was an eight-point, second-round win over Florida. The Huskies steamrolled Louisville by 22 points in the title game. The 2010 perfect run almost ended in the title game when the Huskies trailed Stanford 20-12 at halftime before rallying for a 53-47 victory.

2011-12 Baylor

Brittney Griner led Baylor to its first unbeaten season and the school became the first to win 40 games. Griner had 160 blocks over the course of the season and the Bears had nine Top 25 wins in the regular season. Griner and Odyssey Sims were the stars of the team that helped the Bears win the school’s second national championship. Griner had four double-doubles in the tournament capped by an 80-61 victory over Notre Dame in the title game.

2013-14 UConn

The Huskies had another generation of stars that helped the team win four consecutive titles. This was the second of the quartet and UConn had a balanced offense led by Breanna Stewart, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Stefanie Dolson.

This was the program’s first season in the American Athletic Conference after the breakup of the Big East. The new conference posed little challenge for the Huskies. UConn ran through the NCAAs before facing an undefeated Notre Dame team in the title game. The former Big East rivals had never met in a title game before, and UConn came away with the 79-58 win.

2015-16 UConn

This was the end of an era for UConn as Stewart capped her historic career by leading the Huskies to a fourth consecutive title and 11th overall. She earned Most Outstanding Player honors of the Final Four for an unprecedented fourth straight year. She averaged 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting nearly 58% from the field. UConn had only one game during the season decided by less than 10 points and went on to beat Syracuse by 31 points in the title game.

Dawn Staley is one of the top college basketball coaches in the country — and she also has perhaps the best drip game among coaches as well.

Two days removed from wearing a zip-up jacket and a South Carolina visor as she received the Naismith National Coach of the Year award, Staley went with a Louis Vutton jacket covered with colorful polka dots for the Gamecocks' Final Four matchup against NC State in the Women's NCAA Tournament at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. By tipoff, she had a different look, an all-black outfit with a white design.

For the game itself, Staley had a different look, an all-black ensemble.

South Carolina, once again the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, is coming off a 70-58 win over Oregon State in the Elite Eight earlier this week. The Gamecocks trail the all-time series against the Wolfpack 12-20 but are 4-2 in the Staley era, which began during the 2008-09 season.

Staley and South Carolina look to return to the national championship game after losing in the Final Four last year to Iowa and Caitlin Clark. If the Gamecocks can advance to Sunday's title game, South Carolina will not only get the chance to win their second national title in three years but will become the 10th team in NCAA Tournament history to go undefeated for an entire season with a win.

Dawn Staley outfits history

Staley is among the most en vogue personalities in all of sports. A big reason why? Her commitment to putting that s— on.

Staley is nothing if not a fashion enthusiast, having donned some of the glitziest garb in all of sports. She's rocked high-end brands like Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Burberry, stirring up a storm across social media as onlookers scour the web to get a glimpse at her one-of-its-kind regalia.

However, Staley also is a proponent of pair style with substance. She's often used her fashion sense to pay homage to figures that have helped pave the way for her over the course of her Hall-of-Fame career. Staley honored fellow Temple coaching icon John Chaney after his passing in 2021.

She also rocked a vintage Cheyney State jersey, offering younger fans a window into the influence the HBCU (and its Hall-of-Fame tactician, C. Vivian Stringer) had on the modern-day game.

Staley's outfits will certainly be the talk of the town come tournament time. Given her track record, that should only be a good thing.

The Gamecocks didn't mince words after punching a ticket to the title game.

South Carolina beat NC State and punched its ticket to its third national championship in the last seven years behind a dominant third quarter. The Gamecocks led by just one at halftime but outscored the Wolfpack 26-9 in the third quarter to secure a 78-59 win in Cleveland.

"I want to congratulate NC State for making it to the Final Four and making it hard for us," head coach Dawn Staley said after the game. "It was not an easy win, although the score may say differently. But we had to play for 40 minutes in order for us to win the basketball game. I'm just proud of our team to be able to play on this big stage and meet the moment to get us to Sunday."

Senior guard Te-Hina Paopao and sophomore forward Ashlyn Watkins joined Staley at the podium. The Gamecocks trio broke down their dominant showing in the second half and what has motivated them every game of their 37-0 start to the season, among other things.

Here's what South Carolina said after the Final Four win over NC State:

INITIAL THOUGHTS ON THE WIN OVER NC STATE

Staley: "I just want to congratulate NC State for making it to the Final Four, making it hard for us. It was not an easy win, although the score may say differently. But we had to play for 40 minutes in order for us to win the basketball game. So, I am really proud of them and their effort to get to the Final Four. I'm just proud of our team to be able to play on this big stage, not play our best basketball in the first half and come back out and make some small adjustments and meet the moment to get us to Sunday."

ON WHAT CHANGED COMING OUT OF THE LOCKER ROOM

Watkins: "I feel like we wanted it more than them. Our locker room talk, we wanted it. I could tell by our faces and voices we wanted it more than they did."

Paopao: "We just told each other that we were good. We have been in this position before, and we just have to come out wanting it more, and we did. And we locked in on both sides of the court in the second half."

ON CUTTING TURNOVERS IN HALF AFTER HALFTIME

Paopao: "I contributed four of them. I don't like to see four turnovers next to my name. I'm mad at myself for letting that happen, especially in this type of game. I'll do better. But we knew we just had to do the simple stuff. We were trying to be too flashy. Some of us were trying to be the hero. When we move the ball like we did, it makes the game fun and easier. And we just know we've got to do the simple things."

ON HOW THE TEAM STAYS LOCKED IN AFTER 36 WINS

Watkins: "For me, we have a lot of fun. We know when to be serious. We have a good balance. That balance is what helps us stay locked in. We know we can play around with Coach and each other, but we know when to be serious."

Paopao: "It's very balanced with our team. We know when to take care of business. We know when to have fun with it. We've done a great job so far, and hopefully, we can take care of business on Sunday and have even more fun."

ON THE GAMECOCK'S THIRD-QUARTER DEFENSE

Staley: "I like the fact that we turned up the heat. We put a lot more pressure on them to go deeper in their offense. We put a lot more pressure on the basketball, especially their point guards and the people that were initiating their offense. If you get them to play a little bit outside of their comfort zone, you're disrupting and dictating. We did a lot more of that in the third quarter and that created some easy buckets for us."

ON SOUTH CAROLINA'S EXPANDED DEPTH, ROTATIONS THIS SEASON

Staley: "When you go through a season, especially at the beginning of the season, they're all thinking they should start. They're all thinking they should play. Then, you have to figure out what unit works well together. You've got to come up with the starting five. Our starting five was who we started tonight. Ashlyn Watkins was probably a little disappointed that she wasn't a part of the starting five. But I do think it was the best thing for her development. Sania Feagin probably thought she should have been starting. But it's more about combinations and who plays well together.

"Obviously, Kamilla Cardoso was going to be a focal point for us. Who plays better with Kamilla in November? And now, who plays best with Kamilla in April? Right now, it's Ashlyn Watkins. It's nothing that Chloe is not doing, and it's everything that Ash is doing. Each and every game, we could count on a different player. That was enough for them to build some confidence, even if they didn't play as much as they wanted to play the next game. You don't lie to them. You don't sell them a false dream. They believe it because when their number's called, they come through. It's a luxury to play as many players as we're playing."

Staley: "I give them that space. Whatever it is that can get them to execute and play in practice the way we need to prep for games, have at it. For me, it's about coaching and teaching and figuring out a way to allow our players to have their dreams come true. I don't attach anything to our team besides being disciplined in how we need to play. Whatever Raven Johnson needs to keep her playing at a high confident level, whether it's revenge tour or whatever she comes up with because every day she'll come up with something."
