Home Care Navasota, TX

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Steele House gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “Dear Kelly, I wanted to write to you and say how much my father and I have appreciated the great care and service that your agency has provided my mother over the last year. My mother became one of your clients in November 2022 and was helped every day by your caring team. Initially, K. visited with me and helped me understand the various services you provide. She was so helpful and considerate and seemed to understand how overwhelming taking care of an elder can be. We signed-on for 3 times a week shower and grooming care for B.. This soon turned into shower/grooming every day of the week. V. was the caregiver for many months and mother loved her so much!! After V. moved to the office duties, M. became her daily care-giver and mother really enjoyed seeing and visiting with her every day. M. did extra things like making sure she was lotioned well every day and blow drying her hair! Mother considered her a true friend ! Once Mom needed someone to start sitting with her at night, we were even more grateful for sweet employees that sat patiently and lovingly with her such as L., M., and S.. I know there are others that substituted for the regulars that were kind and considerate as well, and of course M. has always been gracious and prompt with any needs or requests for which we asked. We are sad that B. has declined so much that we needed to find a place for her away from home, but we are grateful for this last year and the sincere, caring people that helped us keep her at home. We would absolutely recommend Always Best Care Senior Services and please feel free to use us as a reference ! Thank you again!”

“Always Best Care was able to provide us with emergency help less than 24 hours after we called and we are eternally grateful for their ability to move fast. We needed help with my 90 year old father-in-law who was in home hospice and my 89 year old mother-in-law with onset dementia. All of the caregivers that they sent were wonderful, caring, honest and hardworking individuals. They helped us taking care of my in-law's personal needs, house cleaning, laundry and providing the family with guidance on what we could expect with a patient on hospice. More than anything, their experience and assistance gave us, the family members, a sense of calmness knowing we could take care of our family members in their own home as they wished. After going through the death of someone in home hospice, we found out that there really is a lot more to this type of care than just providing for a patience's basic needs. We are forever grateful to this company for all of their assistance and guidance as we proceeded through this experience.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Navasota, TX?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Rail & Rye or visit Rene Robert Gavelier Sieur De LaSalle statue, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Navasota, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your TX's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Navasota, TX

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Navasota, TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Navasota, TX

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Navasota, TX

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Seasons Assisted Living
  • Navasota Nursing & Rehabilitation
  • Sheridan of Navasota
Home Care Navasota, TX

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Remember - our staff is here to help. Contact our office today to learn more about assisted living communities and how we can find a facility that exceeds your expectations.

The city says it’s expecting around 20,000 people to come into town just for the weekend.

NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) - The city of Navasota is celebrating Texas’ birthday.

Texas Birthday Bash will be in downtown Navasota on March 1st and 2nd right next to City Hall. There will be food, fun, and live music. The event celebrates Texas’ Independence.

Not only is it a fun weekend for the city, but it’s a profitable one too. The city says it’s expecting around 20,000 people to come into town just for the weekend.

Lloyd Lively, Navasota’s Marketing and Communications Director says that at least half of the city’s employees have been planning and preparing for the attraction.

“This could not be done without the generosity of our city staff. These are very hard-working men and women who go way beyond the total extra mile to make sure this event goes off so that our community and the surrounding community of people who come here have the best time of their life,” said Lively.

The city tells me they plan every detail of the Birthday Bash from choosing which bands will play, and which vendors will be present, to coordinating with a sound company to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Several artists, vendors, activities, and more are filling the streets next to city hall.

During the Texas Birthday Bash, the owner of Rail and Rye, Chris Tucker, says their proceeds go up 10-15% compared to a normal weekend.

“We get a lot of customers that come in for this event. Typically, there are 10 or 20 thousand folks that come downtown for the two-day concert. It’s a great time, it’s great for the economy and all the shops downtown,” said Tucker.

Tucker says the foot traffic starts hours before the gates open.

“Especially today, the music doesn’t start until 3 p.m. so people are coming to look, shop, eat, see what we have to offer down here,” said Tucker.

With more people wandering through downtown Navasota, new customers are finding their new favorite spots.

Rebekkah Morgan, manager at Circle P Antiques & Collectables, says that people coming into the shop find a new interest in antiques.

“They’ll be people coming in that wouldn’t normally be coming into an antique shop just because they are out and about, so it’ll be a good opportunity to get people that weren’t interested in antiques and collectibles, interested,” said Morgan.

The festivities are Friday evening March 1st, and the majority of the day Saturday. The headliner, Lonestar, takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.

“I can definitely see that in the last two years, we’ve had a significant increase in business,” said Morgan.

“We know where the problem areas are, where we have frequent flooding. Right now, our road and bridge crews are out looking at those locations, trying to assess whether or not there’s been any significant damage to those locations,” said Lilly.

Grimes County Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s Office say they’re working hand-in-hand to keep the public safe & informed.

Lilly encourages everyone to look at the Grimes County Emergency Management Facebook as well as drivetexas.org for updates on road conditions and closures.

He also encourages the public to report if they see any roads flooded.

“We’re asking citizens if there’s a road listed and they see water on the road, or even if it’s not even a road listed but if they see water on the road, we ask that they not try and drive through those locations, but find an alternate route. If there are barriers up, do not go around those barriers, there’s a good reason those barriers are up, whether they are on county roads or if it’s a state road and TxDOT has state barriers up, we ask that citizens not try and drive around those. And again, like I said, don’t try and drive through high water,” said Lilly.

KBTX’s Julia Lewis also visited Navasota to see how they’re holding up.

Lloyd Lively, Navasota’s Director of Marketing and Communications, says two houses have flooded and the corner of a building collapsed because of the rain.

The building was on 10th and Mcalpine Street and no one was injured in the collapse.

Lively says there was about 1 inch of water in two houses but the water is out of the houses now.

Lively says during the downpour they were receiving several inches of rain per hour.

“Most of the low-lying areas that would normally hold some water, held some water. Our public works crews were out, if there was a road that needed to be blocked off, they put up barricades and blocked the roads off. Those came down when the roads cleared up,” said Lively.

Lively says he sees conditions improving.

“But all the waters receded, all those roads are open, we’re not having all those issues now that we’re just down to a little, normal rain, drizzle,” said Lively.

NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) - Navasota ISD is expected to name a new athletic director and head football coach next Monday and News 3 Sports has learned it will be either Jordan Gill, the current offensive coordinator at Gunter, or Trey Allen who has been the head football coach at Kirbyville High School the last three years.

When former Navasota and A&M Consolidated head football coach Lee Fedora was not among the finalists, KBTX Sports received a request to find out why.

Fedora was a popular coach in Navasota during 11 seasons on the Rattlers sidelines (2005-2015). He won a pair of state championships in 2012 following a 39-3 win over Gilmer and in 2014 beating Argyle in double overtime 42-35.

In 24 years as a head coach, he has an overall record of 224 wins, 70 losses and 1 tie. Fedora began his career at Rogers in 1998. He spent two seasons at Robinson (2003, 2004) before becoming the head football coach at Navasota in 2005. From 2017 to 2022 he was the head football coach at his alma mater, A&M Consolidated.

Fedora has had only 3 losing seasons in his career. His first season at Robinson where the Rockets went 1-9, but the next season did a complete turnaround going 9-1-1. His other two losing campaigns were his first two seasons at Navasota High School where the Rattlers struggled through a pair of 3 and 7 campaigns.

After those two losing seasons Fedora’s Rattlers averaged 11 wins a year over the next 9 seasons which included a pair of 16-0 records resulting in state championships. They are the only undefeated football seasons in school history.

Those credentials and Fedora’s connection to the district had Lee strongly considered for the vacancy to replace Casey Dacus. But according to Navasota ISD Superintendent Stu Musick, Fedora did not make his list of finalists after going through the committee’s rankings and performing extensive background checks.

Fedora did apply and was among the top 10 candidates interviewed and many of the 14-member selection committee had Fedora among their top choices.

It was believed that Fedora currently receiving retirement benefits from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas was an issue, but Musick said it wasn’t. In fact, Lee was one of three retired candidates looking to be rehired.

Navasota ISD has a special called board meeting scheduled for Monday where Musick plans on recommending a name for the board to consider as Navasota’s next head football coach and athletic director.

While the district searches for its new athletic director and head coach, Assistant Athletic Director Tommy Gates will step up as Interim/Acting Athletic Director.

NAVASOTA, Texas — On Thursday, Navasota High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Casey Dacus announced that he would be resigning from his position, according to the district.

Dacus has been with the Rattlers since 2018, and over that time put together a 36-31 record.

“I’ve been here for six years now and feel like it’s time for someone else to take the reins and inject some new blood into the athletic program,” Dacus said in an announcement on the Navasota ISD website. “I want to thank Navasota ISD for the opportunity to ‘come home’ to coach. While we didn’t win as many games as we would have liked, I am proud of the work that was done and our accomplishments over the last six years.”

Navasota had their best season under Dacus in the 2020 season, where they had a perfect 6-0 record in district play and won two playoff matches. Their run was eventually ended by the Navarro Panthers, who themselves would bow out of the competition in their quarterfinals game against Wimberly.

This past season, the Rattlers couldn't seem to find their footing, and finished the season with a 4-6 record, short of what was needed to advance to the playoffs.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Coach Dacus for his service to our Navasota ISD community and to the Navasota Rattler Athletic Program over the past six years," added Navasota ISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stu Musick in an announcement on the Navasota ISD website. "Coach Dacus has led the Rattler program with integrity, class, and high expectations. We wish Coach Dacus and his family nothing but the best in whatever their next chapter is and know that they will continue to build upon a strong foundation.”

The district says that they are beginning their search for a new athletic director and head football coach immediately, and will have Assistant Athletic Director Tommy Gates serve as Interim/Acting Athletic Director until a new candidate is officially selected in the spring.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a rebuilding year in 2023, the Navasota Rattlers bring back an intriguing squad for 2024. Led by Coach Riley Edwards, the Rattlers return an experienced roster featuring five players who were awarded All-District honors last season.

Headlining the Rattlers’ 2024 roster is Nebraska signee, INF Devin Nunez (2024), who was First Team All-District last year. Nunez is currently ranked No. 73 in the state and was a standout performer at our Top Prospect Games South Texas this past June. At the event, he ran the second-fastest 60 (6.68 sec), was 87 mph across the diamond in the infield, and had a max exit velocity of 96.8 mph with the bat. Nunez projects as the team’s opening day starter at shortstop for 2024.

A senior trio returns for the Rattlers this season, with two of the three earning All-District awards a season ago. This trio includes RHP/UTL Jaden Fox (uncommitted - 1st Team), OF/INF Hudson Minor (uncommitted - Honorable Mention), and C/RHP Cameron Quezada (uncommitted). These three, along with the aforementioned Nunez, will be relied upon to lead this experienced roster and lay the foundation for a program looking to turn the corner in 2024.

A sophomore duo is back for Navasota in 2024 after putting together stellar freshman campaigns in INF Evan Otto and UTL Owen Otto. Evan Otto was the District Newcomer of the Year last year and Owen Otto was Honorable Mention All-District. These two will help bring along the rest of the youth on the roster including freshman newcomer C/INF Zane Thompson.

With the returning talent throughout the roster, Coach Edwards should have a fun team to watch throughout the spring season. Look for the Rattlers to rebound in 2024 and try and get back into the 4A postseason.
