They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Carl Great Barrington Memorial gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “Dear Rick, Over the past three plus years, my father Joseph Ceuch has lived at home assisted by the caregivers from your company Always Best Care of Greater Bristol. This letter is a personal thank you from my father and the entire Ceuch family on how your caregivers treated and attended to my father during this time. The caregivers became part of our extended family who shared in countless family events resulting in beautiful lasting memories. Caregivers Frances Boateng, Jeremy Turner, and Yanice Hernandez were awesome in their care of my father. I want to especially acknowledge Francis as a person who went above and beyond his responsibility and became part of the Ceuch inner circle. It was not uncommon for Francis on his off days to stop by during a family picnic to say hello...he is truly loved by my father. Again, I want to thank you for the loving care your caregivers provided my father. I would highly recommend your company to anyone interested in having a caregiver attend to a loved one. Thanks again”

“Heather, I just wanted to thank Always Best Care in helping to provide care for my step father, Daryl. It's unbelievable how the progression of his illness happened so quickly, however, Always Best Care was always ready to provide the level of care he needed as it increased. Most importantly, I'd like to thank his aide, Sue Malasics. She was wonderful to Daryl and took great care of his needs. I knew I did not have to worry with Sue there with him. She was always cooking wonderful homemade meals and desserts and I was happy to see how happy she made Daryl. I think she is a wonderful asset to Always Best Care. Should I know of anyone needing help in the future, I would recommend Always Best Care and Sue Malasics.”

“Our sister, Barbara has early-onset dementia , and was in sudden need of a personal care assistant until placement in a quality skilled nursing facility became available. We reached out to home health care agencies in her local area but, by this point, had already worked with several agencies for med reminders for Barbara (and 24/7 care for our Mom in another area of CT) and were a bit skeptical that that we’d find one that could provide consistent quality of care. When I spoke with Rick Downey of Always Best Care Senior Services in Bristol, he conveyed both confidence in his knowledge of health care and empathy in understanding the frustrations that families experience when seeking quality care for their loved ones. We were next contacted by their care coordinator,Heather Kozikowski, who came to our sister’s home to conduct an assessment and further explain the services offered by Always Best Care.A further testament to the exceptional quality of Always Best Care is the service and care we’ve received after Barbara is no longer a client; our thanks to Always Best Care for the excellent care of our sister, and the peace-of-mind it afforded our family knowing that she was in such kind and competent hands!”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in East Canaan, CT?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local South End or visit Beckley Iron Furnace State Park, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in East Canaan, CT, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CT's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in East Canaan, CT understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care East Canaan, CT

They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring

Solar power is coming to Hartford.

It's coming, though, from outside the city. Specifically from North Canaan, a town that has set up solar panels that will send power to the capital city through a partnership agreement with the town and Lodestar Energy.

"These projects are interesting because we need off-take — we need someone to buy the energy," said Jamie Smith, co-founder of Lodestar. "And we're very, very happy we've got a great partnership going with the city of Hartford. This is our second operating project, but we have seven total projects with the city. So, we're very excited about that."

NEW YEAR SALE: Only 99¢ for Unlimited Digital Access!

Officials held a press conference Friday in North Canaan to talk about the project, which involves almost 5,000 solar panels in the town. They can power 290 homes and will take 524 cars off the road, Smith said, adding that the environmental impact is the equivalent of planting about 38,000 trees.

Under the partnership, energy comes from the 7.6 acre facility at 81 East Main St. in North Canaan and is then sent to Hartford. Friday's announcement was for the second such facility, after the first was opened last year.

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin called the partnership a "win-win" and said it was important for the two municipalities, but also for environmental programs across Connecticut.

"We're really proud of this partnership with the Lodestar team, and also really grateful for this opportunity to work together with the town of Canaan," Bronin said. "This is possible because the state built a program that works. And because of that program — first the virtual net metering program and now the next generations of those programs, you have the opportunity to make marriages like this."

State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, D-Westport, said he hoped the partnership could be a model for other municipalities in other parts of the state.

More for you

"I'll come out for an event like this every week of the year," he said. "Because it's such a critical and perfect example of what we need to be doing here in the state of Connecticut. We need to spread this stuff all over the state. We've kind of localized it in some areas, but we need to be doing everything we can to facilitate good projects."

The idea for a high-end consignment shop had been percolating in recent years for New Canaan’s Christine Knox.

She’d always liked beautiful things and—after earning a bachelor’s degree in art history at Skidmore College and a master’s in art history from Williams College—she went to work for about six years in the field of art, through museums and at Christie’s Auction House.

“I’ve always been interested in the art field—everywhere I traveled, I could always go to museums and look at everything,” Knox told NewCanaanite.com on Tuesday morning from a desk at the rear of Posh Home Décor Consignment at 33 East Ave. “I have everything here from—right over my shoulder is a 16th century Italian etching, which is very famous—everything from antiques to contemporary things. I vet things extremely carefully when they come in so that everything is sort of unique, different and good prices. Very marketable prices. With my background, it sort of circles around. It’s something you carry with you all your life. But I’ve always wanted to do this. It’s just that this is the opportunity that I have later in life to do it.”

So, there is a market there. These are in perfect condition.” $699 apiece at Posh Home Décor Consignment, 33 East Ave. in New Canaan. Credit: Michael Dinan

She opened the shop in June and—perhaps because no local business is offering luxury consignment items in the way that Posh does—the response has been immediate and strong. With the closures in recent years of Severed Ties and The Silk Purse, no one else is offering a physical shop with Knox’s expertly selected paintings, decorative tables, candle holders, dishes, jewelry boxes, signs, pillows and other antique and contemporary items.

“It’s word of mouth,” Knox said of her growing clientele. “It’s a lot of my own contacts just from living here for years and years, and I have a lot of designers that are now coming in, and that’s a key market for me. Because not only do they have access to high end luxury goods, but they’re looking for those kinds of things. As you see, we’re not focusing just on things you can buy in Wayfair—and no judgment against those—these are more particular items.”

Knox has registered Posh as a member business of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. That organization’s executive director, Laura Budd, said the new high-end consignment shop “has filled an important hole in downtown New Canaan’s retail scene.”

“The consignment shop model for home goods is popular here in New Canaan and Christine’s business acumen and her sense of style is sure to make the store successful,” Budd said.

Many of Knox’s walk-in customers are women and there’s a long-established consignment clothing shop next door in DWR, “so we have synergy together,” she said. They’re both located on the first floor of what longtime residents will remember as the former Merit Music building.

Christine Knox: “I have this adorable dinosaur bureau. I have an artist in Stamford who does this work and she designs them and then hand paints them. It’s $450. This is a great market for people who have kids or who have grandkids and they want to give them something fun and unique.” $499 at Posh Home Décor Consignment, 33 East Ave. in New Canaan. “When people come in, I engage them,” Knox said. “It’s a relationship building business. As far as I’m concerned, I’m on the phone all the time. I’m talking to people. I say to everyone, ‘Please tell your friends about us,’ so the word has traveled. This is 99.9 percent consignment. I do buy some things.”

Knox noted that Posh is not designed to compete with online auctions.

“That’s where everybody’s cleaning out everything they have in their house, soup to nuts, garage items,” she said. “I am not that. I am here so that if somebody has five pieces, one piece, two pieces—very, very particular items for when people come into the shop. This is not a thrift shop. It’s a high-end consignment shop with a lot of luxury items.”

Christine Knox: “This is a contemporary bureau that came in pristine shape. Never was in someone’s guest room. It was used maybe four times for a shirt. This is very reasonable. It’s $600. If you look online for Ethan Allen now, it’s $2,000.” At Posh Home Décor Consignment, 33 East Ave. in New Canaan. Credit: Michael Dinan

She added, “ I think it’s an exciting new business for New Canaan because that model did exist in the town for years. Then it didn’t exist anymore.”

Knox spent the bulk of her career in global corporate marketing after earning an MBA from the University of Connecticut. She worked for Estée Lauder and for DDB Worldwide, a large advertising agency where she was responsible for global strategic programming. It was a demanding job that saw Knox traveling nonstop for 30 years, so when she finally retired in 2019 she was ready to take some time off. Since then, Knox—who attended King Low-Heywood Thomas School while growing up in New Canaan, and later became head of its Alumni Associationjoined the local Encore Club.

That corporate background has also come into play in launching Posh, she said.

“It’s talking to people, it’s image making, it’s advertising, and so there’s a line that runs through all those things,” she said. “Those are the things that have always interested me.”

She’s finding that people are coming into Posh from all over the area—Trumbull, Pound Ridge, N.Y., Stamford, Darien, Fairfield, Bedford, N.Y., New York City.

Inside, they find “everything from antiques to contemporary objects,” Knox said.

“I have some Mid-century modern chairs that have authentication papers as if they were a pedigree dog,” she said. “I have everything from a beautiful 16th Century etching and a 19th Century tilt-top table, but a modern painting above it. So I offer everything, but it has to be an object that is unique, has good value, good condition, and is marketable to a clientele under market prices.”

Those selling through Posh are paid quickly under the business’s 50-50 split, she said.

“I’m extremely organized, conscientious,” Knox said. “I know every object in the shop, who it belongs to, track it very carefully. Everybody gets paid on time. So it’s a functioning model. They never have to worry about where their object is or how it’s going. They can call me. I can track every object that comes in the shop.”

Items that come into Posh and aren’t sold after a set period of time undergo mark-downs, she said.

For Knox, operating Posh is a return to what she’s loved to do since her college days— “beautiful objects, whether they’re paintings or furniture or, or whatever else value, the value in them, the history.”

“The history is very important,” she said. “I research everything that comes in. I can’t know everything, and I don’t know something offhand, I research it. And I know how to do the research because I was in that business for a long, long time.”

Here on Instagram, Posh Home Décor Consignment is open 11-5 Tuesday to Saturday, 12-5 Sunday, closed Monday. Private shop parking behind the store via one-way Burtis Avenue – last driveway on the left on Burtis. 203-722-9570, [email protected].

EAST HARTFORD — For the 14th time in its history, New Canaan is a state football champion.

And fittingly, it was the virtually unbreakable defense that has been the Rams' trademark the past two seasons, which came through with the title on the line.

A forced fumble and recovery by Ryan Barnard set up the game-winning score and New Canaan, the No. 2 seed, rallied for two touchdowns in the final 5:03 to defeat eighth-seeded Darien 28-21 in the CIAC Class L final Saturday at Rentschler Field.

The game was a roller-coaster ride, with each team erasing deficits before Ram senior Alex Benevento scored a winning touchdown on a six-yard run with 2:33 remaining.

“Our defense has carried us all year and today we did enough on offense, scored 28 points, and were able to hold on,” New Canaan coach Lou Marinelli said. “It was a great high school football game. It was back and forth, two really good high school football teams head-to-head. That’s the way a state championship should be. I’m just glad we came out on top.”

It’s New Canaan’s second consecutive Class L title and its 14th CIAC crown overall, all of which have come under Marinelli, who started coaching the Rams in 1981. His first state title was 41 years ago in 1982. The Rams have appeared in 19 state finals, including 12 times in the 17 tournaments since 2006. Ten of its championships have come during that span.

Prior to Saturday, the last CIAC team to repeat as a state champ was St. Joseph in 2018-19, but three accomplished the feat this season, with North Haven (Class MM) and Joel Barlow (Class SS) joining the Rams.

The Class L final also marked the ninth time the Rams and Wave have played twice in the season, resulting in five New Canaan sweeps and four splits. They played twice in 2021, with New Canaan winning on Thanksgiving and Darien winning in the Class LL semifinals.

While the defense had the spotlight late, Benevento saluted the Rams’ offense.

“Obviously, (the defensive plays) are very fitting for our year, but honestly, I can’t say enough good things about the offense today,” Benevento said

“We got ourselves in a little bit of a hole defensively and we weren’t communicating as well as should’ve, but our offense stayed with us and kept us in the game the whole way.”

The Rams certainly had their backs to the wall.

Charlie Thom scored the second of his two one-yard touchdowns, to give Darien a 21-14 lead on the opening play of the fourth quarter, and the Wave later stopped New Canaan on a fake punt, setting up a short field at the Rams’ 29-yard line.

But Darien came up empty against the Rams’ defense and New Canaan marched 74 yards and tied the game on a 12-yard pass from Luke Robinson to Will Langford with 5:03 remaining.

Barnard then stripped the ball from Darien quarterback Ben Rolapp and recovered at the Wave’s 16-yard line. Four plays later, Benevento was in the end zone and the Rams were on their way to another crown.

More for you

“Those are the plays you dream about when you’re a kid,” Barnard said. “And to make a play like that in the states like this is just surreal. This feels so amazing. The team last year set a precedent for us and I’m so happy we were able to live up to those expectations.”

For the Blue Wave (9-4), an amazing state playoff ride, which included road wins over No. 1 Naugatuck and No. 4 Newtown, came up just a bit short in the final.

“The attitude just developed over the last 14 days and I’m really proud of how we showed up today,” Darien’s first-year coach Andy Grant said. “We could’ve rolled over a few different times, and we could’ve rolled over in Game one of the postseason, but we continued to improve and put ourselves in good positions. I’m really proud of our guys.”

Darien had huge games from Rolapp (249 passing yards), and tight ends Kevin Roche (12 catches, 135 yards), and Charlie Thom (9 catches, 106 yards). Thom also scored on two short runs, and completed a 28-yard pass when the Wave was backed up near its own end zone.

For New Canaan, quarterback Luke Robinson was 15-for-22 passing for 169 yards and two TDs, rushed for 29 yards and had a 10-yard reception.

Player of the game

Alex Benevento, New Canaan: Benevento scored twice, including on a 24-yard reception in which he caught a short pass and barreled through the Darien defense for the TD. He also had the game-winner in the closing minutes and was part of a defense which came up big in the fourth quarter.

Quotable

“It’s so special. Just being able to step on Dunning Field every day for practice is such a blessing. You feel that culture. There’s that legacy, that aura that’s there. So many people have put this jersey on before me and you want to try and represent them as best you can.” – Alex Benevento on playing for New Canaan.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Saturday's matchup of traditional football powers ended with a hard-fought battle and a New Canaan High School CIAC Class L state championship for the Rams.

New Canaan defeated the rival Darien High School Blue Wave 28-21 in a back-and-forth affair that turned on a turnover, leading to the winning score and ended with the Rams running out the clock and celebrating their 14th state title.

New Canaan was looking to repeat as state champs, going 9-1 in the regular season before winning its two playoff games en route to the championship game.

Darien, meanwhile, brought an accomplished football pedigree into the championship game as well, going 7-3 before its two playoff wins. The Blue Wave had won eight state championships.

The Blue Wave drew first blood, going up 7-0 when senior captain Briggs McGuckin punched it in from the 3-yard line, which was followed up by an extra point.

The touchdown was set up by a long pass completion from sophomore quarterback Benjamin Rolapp to towering junior receiver Charles Thom.

But New Canaan responded, going the length of the field and scoring themselves as senior running back Luke Reed plunged into the end zone from the 1-yard line. The extra point made it 7-7.

On their first drive of the second quarter, the Rams took the lead after senior Alexander Benevento to a short pass from New Canaan junior quarterback Lawrence Robinson and rumbled about 30 yards into the end zone.

The extra point put the Rams up 14-7.

Later in the second quarter, Darien drove 95 yards — mostly via Robinson's arm and legs — to tie the game at 14-14 as Thom, playing quarterback in a "wildcat" formation, kept the ball and barreled into the end zone for a touchdown.

Later in the third quarter, Rolapp drove Darien downfield into New Canaan territory, culminating in a Green Wave touchdown to make the score 21-14 early in the fourth.

The go-ahead score came when Darien's Thom rumbled in from the 1-yard line on fourth down.

New Canaan then drove the ball deep into Darien territory, aided by a personal foul on Darien for a late hit on Robinson, who was out of bounds after a scramble.

Robinson's crisp passing got them into the endzone, with a 10-yard scoring pass to senior receiver William Langford, who was well-covered but the pass was perfect in the corner of the end zone.

The extra point tied the game 21-21 with about 5 minutes to go in the game.

Then the game's biggest play happened when New Canaan sacked Rolapp, causing him to fumble and turning the ball over to New Canaan on the Blue Wave's 16-yard-line.

With the clock winding down, New Canaan went ahead and won the game when the Rams' Benevento rumbled into the end zone from the 6, giving the Rams a 28-21 lead after the extra point was good.

Darien got the ball with 2 minutes, 33 seconds left in the game and Rolapp went to work looking to redeem himself from his fumble.

But the Blue Wave's 2-minute offense stalled and Darien turned it over on downs to New Canaan, which ran out the clock and celebrated a championship.
