Home Care Chelsea, IA

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Chelsea Historic District and District Extension Marker gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Chelsea, IA is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

The Always Best Care difference lies in life's little moments - where compassionate care and trustworthy experience come together to help seniors live a fruitful, healthy life. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Chelsea, IA?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Common Grill or visit Chelsea Historical Museum, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Chelsea, IA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your IA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Chelsea, IA understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Chelsea, IA

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Chelsea, IA

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Chelsea Retirement Community
  • Silver Maples of Chelsea
  • Meadow View Assisted Living
  • Alzheimer's Association
  • Brio Living Services
  • Terrace Glen Village

Job description: We do commercial and residential cleaning. The unique thing about us is that we provide instant online bookings and payment to eliminate the hassles of scheduling and waiting for bids.

Background: I was born in a military camp in Virginia, grew up on a farm in Grimes and graduated from Johnston High School. As far as education, I took all the college classes I felt would add value to my life. Unfortunately, that wasn't a degree. I have done everything from grooming dogs and subcontracting at a spa to working at Mercy Hospice, and now owning a cleaning business.

Notable achievements: I don't have any fancy awards or plaques on my walls, but I have successfully run my own cleaning business for three years before merging into Maid in Des Moines. Building up more than 200 happy clients has been my main focus and an achievement within itself.

Why I do what I do: My parents raised me with a good work ethic. There's something very fulfilling about a long day of hard work. My hands are blistered and my back aches all the time, but I wouldn't change a thing. On top of that, I have provided jobs for many single parents and college students who appreciate the flexible hours.

What I do to get away from work: My 4-year-old son, Connor, and I always manage to find ourselves on an adventure. We enjoy that Jurassic Park game at Chuck E. Cheese and throwing random dance parties. We can get lost in our own little Lego land for hours.

How I give back to the community: I'm really passionate about supporting local businesses and have donated to many silent auctions such as Hope Animal Rescue League, Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Abuse and the Tina Kimmel Benefit. I clean houses for Habitat for Humanity and have donated many hours cleaning to help open new restaurants and bars downtown. For eight years now I've been a member of Animal Welfare Institute, helping give animals a voice against cruelty. Along with all that I enjoy delivering food to people on Thanksgiving and have spent Christmas volunteering at Hospice. Every day I wake up and randomly pick a person in my phone to do something nice for, and to me that is the most rewarding feeling of them all.

The most important lesson I’ve learned on the job: Everyone has a different perspective. What's important to one client can be meaningless to another. Getting feedback and having effective communication are what determine your success on meeting each individual standard.

Words to live by: "Remember Lincoln." I got this from “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent” book and wrote it on my bathroom mirror. Lincoln failed countless times before becoming president. It gives me a different outlook on failure.

Best business book I’ve read lately: Most recent is “The E Myth.” Any entrepreneur has seen the vicious burn-out circle of owning your own business. This book helps you get out of working in your business and focus on working on it.

The best place in central Iowa to entertain clients or colleagues: Akebono by far! The staff has a way of making you feel like royalty, and if my taste buds had their way, I'd be eating there every night.

One thing I would change about the Des Moines area: It's not the area I would change its the weather that needs an adjustment. One day I'm wearing capris, the next I'm looking for my snow boats.

What Iowa can do to attract more people like me: Iowa is so flat, a few more roller coasters couldn't hurt. People like me tend to enjoy the rush and excitement.

My mentor and how he has mentored me: Ryan Meyer, my business partner. He has provided the tools and structure I need to help create our vision. My head tends to end up in the clouds; he has a way of bringing me back to reality and making it actually happen. He is exactly who I needed to meet at this point in my life. We make an incredible team.

My leadership philosophy: Focus on strengths. Each of our employees has unique qualities that make them a rock star at what they do. It's about matching them with the clients who appreciate those traits. People tend to work harder when they feel appreciated. While weaknesses do need to be addressed, they should never bring down someone's value as a person.

What I would do if I could do something else: I would write books and ride bulls. Both are patiently waiting to be checked off my bucket list.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s $25,000 treasure hunt is over.

In an Instagram post from Sunday afternoon, David Cline and John Maxim confirmed that somebody found the hidden booty.

They say that Chelsea Gotta, from Iowa, found the treasure on the Mueller Park Trail. She saw the treasure hunt blowing up on social media and decide to solve the puzzle.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by John Maxim (@onthejohn)

The Great Hunt

Utahns hiked in Utah’s Mountains, desert, and other areas since the end of May, looking for the cash.

Cline and Maxim started the hunt with a poem and then posted additional clues on their Instagram account. The poem was published to the page on May 26.

They spent three months writing the poem.

“We debated every line of that poem,” Cline explained in May. “With the kind of blow-up of artificial intelligence, I knew the first thing people would do is just plug the whole thing into AI and tell me what this means. And so, every word and every line of that poem I put into AI just to make sure it was AI proof.”

The two also dressed in disguises when they hid the treasure chest. They started getting recognized in public because of the popularity of the treasure hunt.

The two friends started the Utah Treasure Hunt three years ago as a way to give people something to do during COVID and feel a sense of adventure. It was $5000 back then.

“I remember Dave and I laughing when we hid the first treasure and as we were walking back, like you know, probably no one is going to do this, and we’re going to be wandering back up here in the wintertime to grab our treasure,” Maxim said with a laugh.

However, the Utah Treasure Hunt was a big hit. The two have hidden a treasure every year since.

A real life adventure

The prize money has also increased, thanks to some sponsors’ help, but a good chunk of it still comes from their own pockets.

“We wanted an adventure people could have in real life,” Maxim said.

The interest in the hunt has also increased so much that people got good at figuring out the clues.

“Last year, we kind of got embarrassed, I think. We did our hunt, and eight days later, it got found,” Maxim said.

More than the prize, though, what Cline and Maxim really love is hearing what the treasure hunt has meant to people.

“I think we started the treasure hunt for the kind of adventure and the fun, but we keep doing the treasure hunt because of the impact it has on so many people’s lives,” Cline said. “John calls it the real treasure and it is so true.”

They had no idea their treasure hunt would bring so many people together.

“We have got a relationship now. We’ve got baby conceptions coming out of our treasure hunts. We have families getting back together. We have people suffering from PTSD and sobriety and all those things,” said Maxim. “There was a woman last night who sent me a message. They had a suicide in the family, and they just hadn’t been able to get out of the house for months. Now she has been on 25 hikes with her daughter looking for the treasure. It has brought the family back together, having a good time. You can’t even quantify what that does for us?”

The images are huge and square and harrowing: a form, reminiscent of a face, engulfed in fiery red-and-yellow currents; a head emerging from a cape collared with glitchy feathers, from which a shape suggestive of a hand protrudes; a heap of gold and scarlet mottles, convincing as fabric, propping up a face with grievous, angular features. These are part of “Faceless Portraits Transcending Time,” an exhibition of prints recently shown at the HG Contemporary gallery in Chelsea, the epicenter of New York’s contemporary-art world. All of them were created by a computer.

The catalog calls the show a “collaboration between an artificial intelligence named AICAN and its creator, Dr. Ahmed Elgammal,” a move meant to spotlight, and anthropomorphize, the machine-learning algorithm that did most of the work. According to HG Contemporary, it’s the first solo gallery exhibit devoted to an AI artist.

If they hadn’t found each other in the New York art scene, the players involved could have met on a Spike Jonze film set: a computer scientist commanding five-figure print sales from software that generates inkjet-printed images; a former hotel-chain financial analyst turned Chelsea techno-gallerist with apparent ties to fine-arts nobility; a venture capitalist with two doctoral degrees in biomedical informatics; and an art consultant who put the whole thing together, A-Team–style, after a chance encounter at a blockchain conference. Together, they hope to reinvent visual art, or at least to cash in on machine-learning hype along the way.

After nearly two months of waiting and nearly three months of not having a front-of-shirt sponsor, Chelsea’s sponsorship agreement with the sports data company Infinite Athlete (IA) has been finally approved by the Premier League. According to the Telegraph, we should expect an official announcement later today (Wednesday).

Chelsea reportedly finalized the deal with IA at the start of August, a month after our previous three-year deal with Three UK expired, and after making some unwise forays towards gambling companies and then also towards media streaming services with conflicts of interest to become our main sponsors.

Those initial reports pegged the IA deal at £50m per year, though it sounds like the Premier League will have had that knocked down to £40m as per whatever esoteric financial fair play tests they may have put it through (though the Telegraph’s sources “insist that the original deal presented to the Premier League has not been forced to undergo any dramatic change or be significantly revalued under fair market value rules”). The £40m would match the outgoing deal with Three UK.

It remains unclear whether this will be a multi-year agreement with Infinite Athlete (née Tempus Ex) or just a one-off for this season as we look for more permanent sponsorship agreements for the front of the shirt.

There’s no word on any new shirt-sleeve sponsors at this point.

Inside a venue dating back 100 years into the past, a new art show explores a question of the future: How can human creativity and artificial intelligence coexist?

ARTECHOUSE, located inside an old boiler room at Chelsea Market, has debuted its latest digital art exhibition, "World of AI·magination;" tickets are on sale here starting at $21/person. To create the exhibition, ARTECHOUSE Studio developed original visual elements with generative AI systems. Designers hope to inspire visitors to consider AI as a "creative associate rather than a mere tool for innovation."

RECOMMENDED: Incredible immersive experiences to do in NYC right now

World of AI·magination centers around a 20-minute cinematic experience with six scenes. One scene, called the Library of Magical Portals, features colossal books brimming with dreams and algorithms. Another scene called Symphony of Illusions constantly morphs, while the Infinite Maze immerses visitors into multiple parallels.

The exhibit intends to show that humans contain "an enduring sense of wonder and a thirst for uncharted possibilities," a press release for the exhibition states. "This exhibition masterfully combines generative algorithms with human creativity to create a unique visual experience, blurring the lines between human creation and machine computation."

The concept strikes a chord during a time when Hollywood's fighting back against AI and when current chatbots proves creepy but limited.

"At ARTECHOUSE, we've always strived to bring the future of art into the present," Sandro Kereselidze, founder and Chief Creative Officer of ARTECHOUSE said in a statement. "As a leading innovative art space at the intersection of art and technology, we enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to experiment with the latest accessible tools that emerge in our field."

On that note, the show culminates in a segment called The Dreamer's Emporium, which promises to leave visitors in awe of the creative possibilities that can arise from the evolving collaboration between human ingenuity and AI.

To create the exhibition, the team dug into 3D model animation and models for animated textures, resulting in over a million unique datasets, the venue's executive creative director Riki Kim explained.

"Despite the immersive gallery's scale, our team innovated to create controlled, high-resolution visuals, harmoniously blending traditional 3D animation with generative AI. The entire endeavor relied on accelerated computing and necessitated a high degree of software and system configuration customization," Kim said in a press release.

While ARTECHOUSE has long been known for its exhibitions combining art and technology, like its recent Beyond the Light and MAGENTAVERSE, this show takes the concept to the next level. The event team sees this exhibit as a testament to the artistic potential of advanced AI techniques, setting the stage for future advancements in computer graphics and generative AI.
