John & Betty Strabley Expand to 3rd Minuteman Press Franchise Location with Plainville Purchase
PLAINVILLE, Conn. – In January of 2024, siblings John and Betty Strabley purchased two well-established Minuteman Press franchises in Enfield, CT and Springfield, MA. Then, in October of 2024, John and Betty expanded even further when they bought independent printing business Advanced Reprographics and opened Minuteman Press in Plainville, CT. The transition over the past six months has been successful.
On buying the business, John shares, “A third Minuteman Press franchise location wasn’t something we went out seeking but buying Advanced Reprographics just too good of an opportunity to pass up. The business had a very steady and profitable book of business but it was mostly selling blueprints and spec books. We immediately saw a great opportunity to cross-sell into these customers all of the other products and services we could offer by converting it into a Minuteman Press franchise.”
Completing the Purchase
John and Betty relied on Minuteman Press International Regional VP Todd Golberg to find this opportunity and finalize the purchase of Advanced Reprographics. John says, “Todd Golberg was great working with on this purchase. He developed a great rapport with the seller and Todd was the go between for both sides. I’ve always found Todd to be very transparent which I think both sides appreciated. In the end, Todd helped to broker a fair deal for both sides and he and Ray helped with the transition.”
Betty adds, “Todd’s extensive experience and support made a potentially overwhelming process feel manageable and straightforward. It truly felt like a partnership, with Todd and Minuteman Press working alongside us to ensure the transition was smooth and our new venture was positioned for growth.”

PLAINVILLE, Conn. — A mom is speaking out after a video that went viral shows a dance studio teacher from Plainville in a group hug with students, which excluded her biracial daughter. The mom said her kids were later dismissed from the studio after the mom confronted the teacher about the hug.
“It’s the same kick to the gut every time you watch it,” is how Melissa Breglia described the video taken at a dance competition in Hartford on Sunday.
She said her 9-year-old daughter was left out of a hug from her dance teacher. The video from the dance competition captures her teacher coming up on stage and appearing to hug three other girls on stage, but not Breglia’s daughter.
That video has over 400,000 views on TikTok and more than 4,000 reactions on Facebook.

Breglia said her daughter was crushed after it all happened.
“She was like, 'I did all of my moves right, Mommy, and I smiled the whole time. But she hugged everybody else except for me,'” Breglia said.
After her daughter was left out, Breglia said she confronted Nadia Boucher, a teacher at Dance Xpressions in Plainville.
“Nadia walked in [the dressing room]. I walked up to her and said, 'how dare you make my child feel less than,'” Breglia said. “She immediately stiffens up and was like, ‘I didn’t do anything, why are you yelling at me?’ I was like, 'I’m not yelling at you, I want to be yelling at you, and I’m not.'"
Breglia said her daughters – who are 9 and 11-years-old - were both released from Dance Xpressions the next day.
In an email from the dance company, Breglia said it wrote, “Due to aggressive behavior, I have breached the contract, and because of a breach of contract, your children will be dismissed from our company and zero refunds.”
FOX61 went to Dance Xpressions Wednesday afternoon to ask about the video and the email. A representative at the front desk initially declined to comment but the owner of Dance Xpressions, Phyllis Boucher, later sent this statement:
We at Dance Xpressions are deeply saddened by the recent misunderstanding that occurred during a dance competition. It has come to our attention that one of our dancers, Shaniah, was unintentionally not included in a group hug on stage. Our instructor sincerely believed she had embraced all the students, including Shaniah, and was unaware of the oversight.
Following the competition, concerns were raised by Shaniah’s family regarding the incident. Our instructor immediately addressed the situation by apologizing to Shaniah, expressing that the exclusion was unintentional and never meant to cause hurt. Emotions were understandably high, and efforts were made to move the discussion to a private setting to ensure a productive conversation.
Over the past years, we have worked to support all our dancers and their families, including Shaniah and her sister. After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to part ways with the family, as we strive to maintain a positive and respectful environment for all members of our studio community. These decisions are never made lightly, and we recognize the impact they can have.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again extend our sincere apologies to Shaniah for the unintentional oversight. Dance Xpressions remains committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming space for all dancers. We are saddened by any misrepresentation of our studio and the challenges that have followed. However, our focus remains on providing a supportive and nurturing experience for every dancer who walks through our doors.

A video from a dance competition in Hartford last week has gone viral. The video shows a dance coach hugging a group of dancers after accepting an award, but not hugging the one Black student in the group.
The dance studio is called Dance Xpressions and is located in Plainville.
Melissa Breglia is the mother of 6-year-old Shaniah, the dancer who was left out of the hug.
“[The coach] gave everybody else a hug except for Shaniah,” Breglia said. “Shaniah came up to me, and said, mommy, how come [the coach] didn’t give me a hug? She hugged everybody else. She said, 'mommy, I did all my moves, I smiled the whole time…and I didn’t get a hug, but they did.'”
Breglia said she approached the dance coach in a dressing room after the incident.
“I went up to [her] and said, 'how dare you? How dare you make my child feel less than?' She instantly stiffened up and said, 'I didn’t do anything, why are you yelling at me?' I said, 'you had her standing on the stage alone. She leaned in to hug you, and you side stepped her.' She said, 'I didn’t do that. I didn’t do anything to her.'”
After the competition, Breglia said she worried she had overreacted, until another audience member sent her a video of the interaction on stage.
Breglia posted it to her TikTok, and it has been viewed more than four million times.
“Afterwards I really thought that I was overreacting in what I saw, until I saw the video and realized everything I’m feeling is valid, and everything my daughter is feeling is valid,” Breglia said.
The dance studio now has dozens of negative reviews on Yelp from people all over the country. Their social media accounts can no longer be found, and their phone’s voicemail was full when NBC Connecticut attempted to reach them.
Breglia said her daughters were removed from the program.
“I got a letter…dismissing my child, my children, from the program. That I had been aggressive with staff,” she said. “At no point in time was there a conversation about your actions, an apology towards my daughter, there was no acknowledgement that anything was wrong.”
“I would like her held accountable. I would like to make sure that other children don’t go through the same thing,” Breglia continued.
She said her video has reached people all over the world. While they now look for a new dance studio, she said her family is grateful for the outpouring of support.
“This has reached globally. I have had people from Australia, Germany, UK, Ghana reach out to me, and just say, please hug that little girl and tell her that you have support, you have people that want to give you a hug," Breglia said.

SOUTHINGTON — Caitlin Cote of Southington has been promoted to director of the Center for Education at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in Wallingford.
The Center for Education is an interdisciplinary hub for advanced clinical education, training and professional development opportunities for Gaylord employees, peer institutions and medical professionals nationwide.
In her new role, Cote oversees the integration and growth of all clinical education programs and the expansion of accredited courses, conferences and symposiums to the broader health care community.
With 15 years of experience at Gaylord, she previously served as nursing professional development manager, leading the nursing professional development team to develop Gaylord’s CNA Academy and the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program.
Cote holds a master's degree in nursing education from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Curry College in Massachusetts. She is vice chairperson for the Healthcare Educators Group at the Connecticut Hospital Association.
She has received several awards, including the DAISY Award, Gaylord Specialty Healthcare’s Nursing Leadership and Innovation of the Year Awards and the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing.
