Home Care In Ball, LA

Home Care Ball, LA

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Louisiana's Old State Capitol gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Ball, LA is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Ball, LA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your LA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Ball, LA

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Ball, LA

Mookie Betts speaks out after fan tries to steal ball from LA Dodgers star during World Series game

Two fans at Yankee Stadium were ejected from Game 4 of the World Series after one attempted to rip a foul ball out of the glove of Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts.

Betts leaped at the wall in foul territory and initially caught Gleyber Torres’ pop up in the first inning, but a fan in the first row with a gray Yankees’ jersey grabbed Betts’ glove with both hands and pulled the ball out, while another spectator grabbed Betts’ non-glove hand.

Betts reacted angrily, and Torres was immediately called out on fan interference.

‘When it comes to the person in play, it doesn’t matter,’ Betts said. ‘We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine. He’s fine. Everything’s cool.

‘We lost the game and that’s what I’m kind of focused on. We got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.’

One of the fans was later identified as Austin Capobianco and the 38-year-old season ticket holder told ESPN he knew he was in the wrong immediately after he let his overexuberance get the better of him.

‘We always joke about the ball in our area,’ Capobianco told the American broadcaster at a local bar after the game.

‘We’re not going to go out of our way to attack. If it’s in our area, we’re going to ‘D’ up.

‘Someone defends, someone knocks the ball. We talk about it. We’re willing to do this.

‘I know when I’m in the wrong and as soon as I did it, I was like, ‘Boys I’m out of here’. ‘I patrol that wall and they know that.’

The Dodgers had a two-run lead at the time on Freddie Freeman’s two-run homer, but the Dodgers were unable to complete a sweep and took an 11-4 loss to the Yankees.

‘I’ve never seen anything like it,’ said Dodgers rookie pitcher Ben Casparius. ‘It’s pretty interesting. It was obviously very early in the game so I think it kind of set the tone.’

It was the second time Torres had an at-bat impacted by fan interference this World Series. With two outs in the ninth inning of Game 1 at Dodger Stadium, Torres hit a fly ball to left field, and a fan reached over and caught the ball. Torres was awarded a double.

Torres later hit a three-run homer to right field for New York’s final runs.

Long encumbered by a mouthful of metal, Zachary was told by his parents Friday that he could leave his fifth-grade class early because he had an orthodontist appointment to get his braces removed. The shaggy-haired 10-year-old figured he’d be out of the chair in time to watch Game 1 of the World Series on TV.

After all, Zachary had worn Dodgers gear to school, drawing from a wardrobe that includes several shirts bearing the name of his favorite player, Freddie Freeman.

So when his father picked him up and — surprise! — showed him tickets in the right-field pavilion and headed directly for Chavez Ravine, Zachary was beyond thrilled. They met his mom in Echo Park for pregame tacos at Guisados and soon were in their seats.

But Zachary’s elation was nothing compared to what he felt in the bottom of the 10th inning when Freeman’s game-winning grand slam headed directly his way.

“When he hit the ball, we knew it was leaving the park,” Zachary told NBC News. “The ball bounced on the seat in front of us and rolled on the ground a little bit. Then I got it.”

Dodgers

Oct. 25, 2024

It was a team effort. When the ball rolled from the seat in front of Zachary to the ground at his feet, he batted it to his dad, Nico Ruderman, who jumped on it ahead of several other fans scrambling after it.

“As soon as everyone knew I had the ball, I stood up and handed it to [Zachary],” Ruderman said. “I picked him up and tears were streaming down his face.”

Fans in surrounding seats were happy for Zachary, a die-hard fan who keeps a scorebook at games. And what games: He was in attendance when Fernando Valenzuela’s No. 34 was retired in 2023, and this year he was there on opening day, on Clayton Kershaw bobblehead night, and the Game 1s of the National League division and championship series.

“Everyone wanted to see the ball,” he said. “Everyone wanted to take a photo with me. I was just mobbed.”

Kudos to the Dodgers faithful that no one tried to snatch the ball out of his hands. Everyone was focused on the Dodgers victory, remaining in the stadium while the team celebrated on the field.

“He probably had his picture taken with 100 different fans,” said Ruderman, whose family lives in Venice. “Everybody was super excited about it. Even Yankees fans high-fived him. It was surreal.”

Dodgers

Oct. 26, 2024

Early the next morning, Zachary accompanied his mom, Anne, on a business trip. He wore a Dodgers T-shirt and a flight attendant asked him if he’d watched the walk-off home run.

“Yeah,” Zachary replied, “I caught it.”

The flight attendant jumped on the plane’s public address system and announced Zachary’s great fortune to the other passengers. He stood from his seat to applause.

Needless to say, the entire episode feels like a dream, but Zachary has one last wish: He’d like to get the ball signed by Freeman.

And, eventually, no one could fault him for at least considering selling it. The ball Freeman’s teammate, Shohei Ohtani, hit into the seats to make him the first player in history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in one season sold at auction for $4.4 million.

That would more than cover the orthodontics bill.

Shohei Ohtani’s 50th home run ball has sold at auction for nearly $4.4 million, a record high price not just for a baseball, but for any ball in any sport, the auctioneer said Wednesday.

Ohtani became the first player in baseball history to hit 50 homers and steal 50 bases in a season, reaching the milestone on Sept. 19 when the Los Angeles Dodgers star hit his second of three homers against the Marlins.

“We received bids from around the world, a testament to the significance of this iconic collectible and Ohtani’s impact on sports, and I’m thrilled for the winning bidder," Ken Goldin, the founder and CEO of auctioneer Goldin Auctions said in a statement.

The auction opened on Sept. 27 with a starting bid of $500,000 and closed just after midnight on Wednesday. The auctioneer said it could not disclose any information about the winning bidder.

The auction has been overshadowed by the litigation over ownership of the ball. Christian Zacek walked out of Miami’s LoanDepot Park with the ball after gaining possession in the left-field stands. Max Matus and Joseph Davidov each claim in separate lawsuits that they grabbed the ball first.

All the parties involved in the litigation agreed that the auction should continue.

Matus’ lawsuit claims that the Florida resident — who was celebrating his 18th birthday — gained possession of the Ohtani ball before Zacek took it away. Davidov claims in his suit that he was able to “firmly and completely grab the ball in his left hand while it was on the ground, successfully obtaining possession of the 50/50 ball."

Ohtani and the Dodgers are preparing for Game 1 of the World Series scheduled for Friday night.

The final cost for the Ohtani ball includes the winning bid of $3.6 million plus an additional 22% buyer’s premium.

It remains unknown who will pocket the cash. That’s for the courts to decide.

Ohtani hit the milestone home run during the seventh inning of a 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park on Sept. 19. A mad scramble for the historic ball ensued among the fans in the left-center field, with a man identified in court documents as Florida resident Christian Zacek emerging with the valuable memento.

Days later, Goldin Auctions announced the ball would be up for bid starting Sept. 27.

On Sept. 26, Broward County resident Max Matus filed a lawsuit in Florida’s 11th Judicial Circuit Court against Zacek, fellow Florida resident Kelvin Ramirez and Goldin Auctions, claiming ownership of the ball and seeking an injunction to prevent the defendants from selling it.

In response to an emergency injunction filed by Matus, a judge ruled that the auction could start as scheduled but the “Defendants will not sell, conceal or transfer the 50/50 Ball pending the Court’s ruling on Plaintiffs’ Motion.” The bidding started at $500,000.

A second lawsuit was filed in the same court Sept. 27, with Broward County resident Joseph Davidov claiming ownership of the ball. Matus, Zacek, Ramirez and Goldin Auctions were named as defendants.

Earlier this month, Zacek, Matus and Davidov agreed to allow Goldin Auctions to continue with its sale of the item, and then allow the courts to decide which of them will receive the proceeds from the sale. Goldin Auctions and Ramirez were dismissed as defendants in both cases.

According to the agreement, the proceeds of the sale will be deposited into an account pending the litigation.

Ryan Wold nearly had history within his grasp. Instead it grazed off his fingertips.

Max Matus actually had history in his hand, but eventually lost his grip.

Both of them were on hand Thursday for the Dodgers-Miami Marlins game at LoanDepot Park, where L.A. superstar Shohei Ohtani became the first MLB player to reach 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season.

Perhaps you’ve seen videos of the mad scramble in the left-center field stands following Ohtani’s 50th home run. Wold is the guy in the Marlins tank top who had the first two shots at snagging the historic ball.

“It went above us and I saw it ricochet. I tried to get it at that time, but I was a little far at that point,” Wold told The Times in a phone interview Friday. “And then it pretty much bounced right off the table in front of me, and as it was right there, I stuck my hand out and it grazed the very tips [of my fingers]. By the time it fell down off the table, there were three people right on top of it.

“It’s just such a crazy moment because it happens so fast. I thought I had the reach for it — I didn’t. And then some other guy got it, and by that point it was kind of too late to jump down and try and get in the scuffle.”

Asked if he thinks there was anything more he could have done to pull in the ball while it was so close, Wold laughed.

“For sure. I could’ve just plunged out, I guess — definitely would’ve gotten hurt,” said Wold, a Palm Beach, Fla., resident who attended the game with a group of his co-workers from Franklin Street real estate.

“It was really just cool just being there for that moment.”

Matus was there celebrating his 18th birthday with his father, Greg Matus, a co-worker of Wold’s. Wearing a red shirt and powder blue hat, Max Matus can be seen in video footage struggling for the ball with a man in a black T-shirt.

That man, who appears to be in his 40s, eventually emerged with the ball, as a clearly frustrated Max Matus looked on. Greg Matus told The Times on Friday that his son is “obviously upset about it, but he’s doing fine.”

“I think he was disappointed that he had a ball in his hands and some guy took it away from him,” Greg Matus said. “Obviously after the fact, everybody’s talking about hey the ball’s worth millions of dollars or whatever they’re saying. But in the moment I think he was just a kid trying to catch a ball in the outfield at the game.”

Overall, he said, the game was a positive experience. Ohtani put on a show, going six for six with three home runs, 10 runs batted in and two steals as the Dodgers claimed a 20-4 victory and clinched a 12th straight National League postseason berth.

“We had a great time,” Greg Matus said. “Obviously super disappointed about not catching that ball now, knowing how it’s going to affect history, but totally just a great, crazy atmosphere. When that ball got hit, it was just mayhem. People jumping over tables, landing on people. … I’m actually glad my son didn’t get hurt.”

The man who got the 50-50 ball immediately was whisked away by security. Darren Rovell of cllct reported that the fan was taken to an undisclosed location where the authenticity of his ball was verified by the league.

Craig Mish, senior baseball correspondent at the Miami Herald, reported that the fan kept the ball rather than give it to the Dodgers. Ohtani said after the game that he hadn’t received the ball.

The Dodgers declined to comment for this story. The Marlins and MLB did not respond to messages from The Times.

Brendan Wells, vice president at SCP Auctions in Laguna Niguel, said Friday his company believes the ball “is worth half a million dollars, maybe even more based on the significance of that milestone,” provided that the owner acts quickly while Thursday’s events still are fresh in everybody’s minds.

Wold acknowledged that the ball is “very valuable” but said he probably would have kept the memento had he pulled it in.

“My dad’s a big baseball fan and [so are] his brothers, so I definitely would have wanted to involve them in the experience of it just because it’s such a big part of history,” Wold said.

He added: “I think something like that is unique. I mean, maybe eventually I’d sell it, but my parents live in New Jersey, I live in Florida, so maybe give them a chance to touch it, something like that.”
