Hi Fiona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.I was introduced to art at a very young age, and I think I was always an artist. I grew up surrounded by creativity, with the sound of my father, a contemporary jazz artist, playing the piano, and the sight of my mother working on her art projects. I learned the foundations of what I know from both of my parents, and I’ve explored many mediums throughout my life.
It wasn’t until I was given a Leclerc floor loom that I truly found my craft. I was 20 years old at the time, and I still have the very first weaving I ever made. I never could have imagined how profoundly this loom would change my life.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, and I’ve found a strong connection between my neurodivergence and weaving. Working on the loom allows my body to slow down. It requires patience, thoughtfulness, and care. My mind doesn’t wander when I weave, and it’s one of the rare times I feel fully present.
Today, I continue my weaving practice. I weave daily, while also allowing myself to pause. I started my most recent weaving, Nonlinear, in May 2026 and finished it five months later, in September. There were moments when I felt frustrated and wanted to push through, but this time I allowed myself to step away for a month. During that break, I went on a solo road trip through Chicago to Canada to visit family, and it ended up influencing how I thought about this weaving.
The trip reminded me that time is always changing, and that I change with it. Personal growth, for me, has never been linear. I didn’t know I would find weaving, but I did, and it continues to teach me how to embrace life’s unexpected paths.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?My biggest struggle has been working with my neurodivergence and the isolation it once instilled. Before my ADHD diagnosis, I hadn’t weaved in years. I always knew I would return to it, but managing my symptoms took all of my energy. Now, with the support of friends, family, and professionals, I’ve learned to work with my neurodivergence rather than against it. I’ve learned that I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I spend time in nature and talking to loved ones. That fills my cup with inspiration. Before I had my ADHD managed, I felt isolated. Now, I know what connection feels like. I know its importance and how impactful it is not just on my weaving, but on my overall wellbeing. I didn’t get where I am today by myself, and I just try my best to live in gratitude for the positive experiences, successes, and people I have in my life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?I’ve spent the past three years focusing on tapestries, inspired by the passage of time, movement, and growth. I explore these themes through abstract compositions, utilizing color and texture and creating a sense of depth within a flat weaving.
I think what sets my work apart is that I try to let the material speak for itself. Each weaving is made in collaboration with the fiber. I never feel fully in control of a project, and I like that. I loosely plan designs, but ultimately the yarn tells me where it wants to go. As I weave, row by row, I watch how the colors slowly build and begin to interact with the surrounding space. My weavings are intuitive, rather than fixed, and I think that fluidity is represented in my work.
I’m most proud of how I’ve developed this approach over time. When I first began weaving, everything was experimental. It’s taken years, but I feel like I’ve found my rhythm. I’ll always be learning, but I know a lot more than when I first started. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my craft, both technically and conceptually.
What was your favorite childhood memory?I was around 8 years old, and my mom, brother, sister, and I had just landed in Ottawa, Canada, to visit my grandmother. We had an hour-long drive ahead of us. It was nighttime and pouring rain, but we started driving. About halfway there, my mom had to pull over on the small country road because the rain was so heavy. I was sitting in the backseat when I turned my head up to look at the sky. I was mesmerized. I could see all the stars.
Growing up in Los Angeles, I had never seen anything like that before. I wasn’t scared that my mom pulled over. I wasn’t worried about how we would finish the drive. I felt safe in that car with my family, looking up at the universe. It was such a profound experience of feeling completely present and in awe, and that’s why it stands out. I was amazed by something I had never seen before with the people I love.

The Rams are obviously in win-now mode. Matthew Stafford probably only has a few years left, and their roster is full of veterans. Yet, for some reason, Los Angeles decided to make a future-focused move by drafting Simpson out of the University of Alabama.
Despite all of the claims that the Rams were a “super team” coming into this season, or that they would go undefeated, Week 1 showed that they have some weaknesses. The Niners carved that vaunted defense up pretty well, although it’s worth noting Garrett was clearly not fully healthy and has to undergo surgery, while Donald didn’t even make the trip.
They’re not as bad as they looked in Australia, but this notion that the Horns were unstoppable was always silly. Couple that with the fact they burned a pick on a guy who probably won’t play for several years (keep in mind the fact he couldn’t even win the backup job) rather than drafting a player who could've had an immediate impact may prove to be a huge mistake.
What makes it even better (at least from the Niners' perspective) is it seemed pretty clear head coach Sean McVay was not thrilled with the Simpson pick. His face seemed to say it all, and his curt answers on the selection suggest he wishes Los Angeles had drafted a player who could provide an impact as a rookie.
The Rams are going to be a much different team when they meet the Niners in Week 15 than they were in Week 1. McVay is too good of a coach, and they have too much talent to completely fall apart.
But they are far from unstoppable, and the 49ers just proved that.
Maybe five years from now, Simpson is an MVP and the pick looks genius, keeping the Rams relevant for years going forward. But when it comes to the 2026 season, it remains a real head-scratcher for a team that pushed all its chips in with its other offseason moves.
The 49ers certainly aren't complaining, though.

So call it a quiet, workmanlike beginning for the 13th player taken in the NFL draft, a quarterback the Rams ostensibly chose to become Matthew Stafford’s heir apparent.
On Sunday, in the Rams’ first training camp practice, Stafford was held out as part of the plan to limit his reps, putting all eyes on Simpson and fourth-year pro Stetson Bennett as they began their competition to back up the reigning NFL most valuable player.
With Stafford, 38, back for an 18th season, the Rams are favored to win the Super Bowl.
But with Jimmy Garoppolo enjoying retirement — probably until an NFL team in desperate need comes calling — the Rams require a capable backup should something befall Stafford, who remains the most important player on a star-studded team favored to win Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium.
Nate Scheelhaase, the Rams’ first-year offensive coordinator, praised Bennett and Simpson.
“We require so much of those guys, from what we do with formations with motions, with adjustments that they’re going to make before the ball is even snapped,” Scheelhaase said. “And so, if you can’t get that right, it’s going to be hard to get anything right post snap.
“So that’s the starting point. That’s the foundation.”
Last season, with Stafford sidelined throughout camp because of a back issue, Bennett took second-team reps behind Garoppolo.
Bennett has never taken a regular-season snap for the Rams, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2023 draft after he led Georgia to two national titles.
“He competes,” Scheelhaase said. “And I think anybody enjoys playing with a quarterback who competes, who’s going to throw it all in there, and that’s the mentality he has. ... That’s something that’s been kind of his calling card.”
Bennett completed several passes to receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams and running back Kyren Williams.
He also was on the wrong side of the play of the day.
Bennett’s deep pass for Adams along the left sideline was tipped by new cornerback Jaylen Watson and intercepted by safety Kamren Kinchens.
Simpson started only 15 games for Alabama, but the Rams apparently saw enough to determine he was worthy of using their highest pick since selecting quarterback Jared Goff No. 1 overall in 2016.
On Sunday, Simpson completed several short passes. His deepest attempt, for tight end Terrance Ferguson, was broken up by cornerback Cam Lampkin.
Bennett and Simpson will continue to compete during 10 more training camp workouts, preseason practices — including joint practices with the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints — and preseason games against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Saints and the Chargers.
On Monday, in keeping with coach Sean McVay’s stated plan to have Stafford practice in the second and fourth practices of each four-day block, the starting quarterback will practice for the first time.
Offensive lineman Justin Dedich was placed on the non-football injury list. Dedich, a third-year pro who played at USC, started six games last season. ... Second-year running back Jarquez Hunter broke off a run for a long gain.
