Episode 2 of 'I Love LA' kicks off with Tallulah completely taking over Maia’s life. Trouble begins when fellow influencer Paulena storms into a café, accusing Tallulah of stealing her Balenciaga bag. She empties it right there, reclaiming it in a dramatic shouting match while customers watch in disbelief. Dylan, meanwhile, feels sidelined as Maia and Tallulah grow inseparable - though Tallulah’s lack of boundaries bothers him far more than it does Maia.

Elsewhere, Charlie, who’s styling British pop star Mimi Rush, tries to smooth things over when Mimi wants Zendaya to play her mom in a music video but cliams she isn’t responding to her. Desperate, Charlie lies that people say Zendaya’s difficult to work with - a rumor that backfires when Zendaya actually agrees to do the video. Their FaceTime call leaks online, and Charlie ends up fired. Heartbroken and standing alone in his red underwear, he realizes confidence doesn’t cure loneliness.

Meanwhile, Alani turns heads when she visits her dad’s office, accidentally interrupts a meeting, and shockingly reveals she once dated a 28-year-old married man when she was in eighth grade.

Tallulah later scares Maia by saying Paulena plans to get a warrant against her, prompting Maia to call her dad in panic. When Paulena joins them for dinner - courtesy of Dylan, the ever-sweet chef - things start calm but quickly spiral when Paulena brings out cocaine, moments after calling Tallulah an addict. The group decides the only way to drive her away is to 'out-crazy' her. Maia fakes a meltdown, smashing plates and threatening to harm herself on social media, scaring Paulena into fleeing.

However, Paulena leaves the Balenciaga bag as a peace offering but overhears Maia mocking her jewelry line. Furious, she vows revenge - and by episode’s end, she’s ready to expose gossip that could destroy Tallulah and Maia’s influencer world.

HBO's new original comedy series, I Love LA season 1, premiered with one episode on November 2, 2025. The first episode introduced the viewers to the characters and what they're up to.

Maia, young and ambitious, juggles between troubles at making big at work and handling her rough past with her ex-best friend, Tallulah. Things take a huge turn when Tallulah shows up at her house in LA for Maia's birthday. Tallulah's presence spoils Maia's celebration plans as the former keeps doing things her way.

I Love LA season 1 premiere ending explained: How did Maia and Tallulah patch up?

Maia's disturbed feelings over the fate of her friendship with Tallulah were mainly explored in the first episode of I Love LA season 1. While the two were best friends in the past, Maia had a major role in helping her friend rise to fame as her manager. However, things changed between the two when Tallulah chose a big agency to manage her, and Maia moved to LA.

While Maia's friend Charlie and boyfriend Dylan stand by her, her other friend, Alani, believes that she could patch things up with Tallulah and invites her to LA for Maia's birthday. Things take a turn for the worse as Tallulah keeps changing the plans for Maia's birthday. When she finally changes the dinner venue and a cake stating 'Happy Birthday Tallulah' is brought out, Maia turns agitated.

She rushes to the washroom, and Tallulah follows her out. Maia confesses that she lied about her promotion and happy life in LA because she was jealous of Tallulah. She hated how they had worked together for all the fame her friend was enjoying, but Maia was the one suffering. To this, Tallulah also confessed that she was broke. The two opened up about their struggles and had an honest conversation, which made them give their friendship another chance.

What was Tallulah's new plan?

While Tallulah's success had brought Maia's morale down, the final moments of I Love LA season 1 episode 1 revealed that her ex-best friend was in no good position either. Along with professional struggles, Tallulah's relationship with her boyfriend, Igor, had also ended on a bitter note.

At the end of the episode, Tallulah comes up with a plan that completely changes the dynamics between her and Maia. She makes an impulsive plan to stay back in LA with Maia. She also suggested that Maia become her manager again so that they can do all that they had planned to do together in LA.

This plan made Maia happy, making her enjoy the rest of her birthday party with her friends. The two not only patched up at the end of the premiere, but their collective plans promise more striking moments ahead in the series.

What does Tallulah ask Alyssa at the end?

The premiere of I Love LA season 1 portrayed Maia's bigger plans and aspirations for her career. Her fallout with Tallulah was also largely based on losing her role as a manager and feeling betrayed by her best friend. However, the developments shown at the end of the episode hinted that Maia might be getting close to her desires soon.

After the two become friends again and plan on working together in LA, Tallulah further helps her friend with her promotion at Alyssa180. Since the company's CEO was also present at Maia's birthday party, Tallulah tells her to promote Maia, as she would be managing her. Alyssa gives a positive response, hinting that the awaited promotion might be on the way for Maia. However, how things will further work out for the protagonist will be further explored in the upcoming episodes of the series.

Rachel Sennott’s “I Love LA” plunges viewers into the chaotic yet lovable shenanigans of Odessa A’zion’s Tallulah, who quickly becomes a force of disruption for Sennott’s Maia when she arrives into town and attempts to resume their longtime friendship. Luckily for A’zion, the spark with Sennott felt right from the start.

“You either have chemistry or you don’t have chemistry, and Rachel and I just had really good chemistry in life, and then for these characters, and … bounce off of each other really well, improv-wise,” A’zion told TheWrap. “You can fake chemistry sometimes, but … it’s always a little bit off. I feel like even if you don’t have chemistry in real life, you could have really good on-screen chemistry still, but we were lucky that we had good chemistry in real life and on screen.”

Their chemistry only works to underscore the history between the former best friends, which has taken a pause since Tallulah didn’t follow through on the duo’s plans to move from New York to Los Angeles years ago, though you wouldn’t be able to tell by the way Tallulah makes herself welcome in Maia’s home. In fact, it’s the way Tallulah’s intoxicating charisma opens doors — including LA’s Tenants of the Trees — that makes Mia feel even more isolated.

The other shoe drops, however, when Tallulah reveals that her life isn’t as perfect as she’s making it seem: her boyfriend cheated on her and kicked her out, and she’s pretty much living out of her bag. It’s a confession that takes some strength for Tallulah, who arrives in LA to see Maia in a steady job and healthy relationship, with A’zion noting “Tallulah was probably hiding what she was going through because she wanted to seem like she had her s–t together.”

“They were both probably jealous of each other and felt betrayed by each other,” A’zion said. “We first hear it from from Maia’s perspective … how Tallulah betrayed her. I’m sure Tallulah felt like Maia betrayed her as well for going to LA and staying in LA when they wanted to do New York together.”

After both Tallulah and Maia let down their facades, they come up with a plan: Tallulah will stay in LA and Maia will manage her career as a up and coming influencer.

A’zion recalls Tallulah being fully formed by the time she came on board, but the process of shooting the pilot — which A’zion said got even funnier in rewrites — helped her refine her perspective on Tallulah’s style, which A’zion describes as “super femme and tight” in a stark contrast from her personal style.

“After we did the pilot, I realized, ‘Okay, this is who Tallulah has to be — that’s her whole thing,” A’zion said. “When we came back to do the rest of the show, and the rest of the fittings, they would put on the clothes, and I was like, ‘Okay, I love this, but I think that she would wear an even smaller skirt.’”

“The best way to work is to have freedom to collaborate and make the character your own,” A’zion continued.

Though Tallulah plays a rising star influencer hoping to build up her internet fame with Maia’s help, A’zion clarified that Tallulah doesn’t represent every influencer, and that she didn’t take inspiration from any particular influencer.

“She’s obviously flawed, like a lot of the other characters in the show as well — every character is a little flawed,” A’zion added. “I don’t think that all influencers are like her. She’s very particular. She’s super driven, though, and has her s–t together for the most part, not all the way.”

As could be expected by the HBO comedy’s title, the premiere episode of “I Love LA” features a quintessential LA experience: hitting up Erewhon for snacks on the long haul from the east side to the beach. “That was the first time anybody’s ever filmed in an Erewhon before,” A’zion notes. “Isn’t that crazy?”

What follows is a dreamy ode to the city as A’zion’s Tallulah and True Whitaker’s Alani drive up across the city and up PCH to the beach, set to the tune of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” “We got to just drive around in this nice car all day in the sun, and it was just me and True hanging out with like this van in front of us … it’s basically this van with an open back, and everybody is sitting in the van watching you and watching the monitor,” A’zion explained.

She noted that the scene was filmed well before Los Angeles’ wildfires in early 2025 wreaked havoc on PCH around the Pacific Palisades area. “It’s pretty cool that that’s something that we have — a little piece of history down there, even though you can’t really see it that much,” she noted.

It’s an exciting time for A’zion, who will also soon appear opposite Timothée Chalamet in “Marty Supreme.” Given previous projects that either came out in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic or the strikes or were smaller indies, A’zion notes that recent events for “I Love LA” and “Marty Supreme” have marked her first big premieres.

“It’s very overwhelming. I’m super, super grateful,” A’zion said. “It’s been crazy balancing, but I feel really, really lucky to be a part of both things and for them to be so different and satisfy like both parts of the acting spectrum.”

When I first moved to Los Angeles, everyone told me to give it “at least two years.” They said that’s how long it would take to find out whether I could live there. But to like it, let alone love it? Who knows! Everything was beautiful and nothing felt real. As a spinning Rachel Sennott put it in a bizarrely compelling 2020 video that’s essentially a succinct thesis statement for the dissertation that is her 2025 HBO show: “Come on! It’s L.A.! Haha! What?! It’s L.A.!” Basically: the girls who get it, get it. The girls who don’t, don’t.

I did, until I didn’t. Still, leaving proved a much more painful breakup than I’d ever expected because I really did learn to love so much about L.A. The food! The arts! The biodiversity! The vibrancy! L.A. can rule! But seeing some of its most insular instincts through Sennott’s eyes (and those of pilot director Lorene Scafaria) feels more familiar than I’d expected, too. As much as I Love LA will inevitably get compared to Lena Dunham’s Girls, I’m gonna throw it out there that its truest HBO ancestor is Entourage, with all the desperate social climbing and grimy Hollywood truths that implies.

This first episode opens with Maia (Sennott) waking up on her 27th birthday. She climbs on top of her sweetiepie boyfriend Dylan (fittingly played by professional onscreen sweetiepie Josh Hutcherson), and does her best to have a great time amid an ongoing earthquake, because “if we’re gonna die, I just wanna come.”

Once this noble mission is accomplished, she begins the traditional birthday tradition of whining about getting older. Dylan does his best to combat her blues, quickly realizing that the lovely sentiment of “every year you become more and more yourself” isn’t half as convincing to his girlfriend as, “and you’re skinnier now, which I know you love.” Yes, yes, she does. One crashout thus avoided, she opens Instagram and skids straight into another one. Her former best friend, Tallulah (Odessa A’zion), just posted a pic from a campaign they worked on together in New York, before Tallulah apparently dumped Maia for a bigger-name manager.

Stewing in fresh rage, she sets off to meet her friends Charlie (Jordan Firstman) and Alani (True Whitaker) for a brisk coffee walk around Silver Lake Reservoir, a classic meetup mode for anyone in L.A. vaguely committed to “healthy living” but not enough to hike. Maia absorbs the glow of compliments on her new haircut before going in on Tallulah, because she’s at the point of a friendship breakup where she needs everyone around her to agree that the friend in question sucks. Ever since Tallulah went from It Girl to #influencer, Maia’s resentment has calcified into a bitter pill she refuses to swallow. She was the one who turned Tallulah’s wildness into something marketable, she says. “I’m not gonna sit around and do nothing while she reaps the benefit of my hard work!” And so, with Charlie’s enthusiastic encouragement, Maia blocks Tallulah and feels, she insists, amazing.

Unfortunately, that brief high of righteousness quickly wears off when she clocks in for her thankless job as a publicity assistant. It disappears for good when her #girlboss Alyssa (Leighton Meester, who’s always welcome on my screen even while playing someone who gives me hives) rejects her case for a promotion. Scafaria’s close-ups on Sennott’s face throughout this pilot, such as in this scene with Alyssa hemming and hawing in the background, are so good. When Maia grits her teeth and brings up her experience managing Tallulah — now known to thousands as It Girl Tallulah Steele — it’s clear how much it pains her to pull that card.

Imagine Maia’s shock, then, when she gets home after work only to be tackled by the tornado that is a half-naked Tallulah herself, squealing “happy birthday!!!!1” as if nothing ever happened. Apparently, Alani flew her out to L.A. as a birthday surprise. (Gotta love daddy’s Oscar-winning money!) Sennott’s always had such compelling charisma, so it says something that A’zion immediately makes Tallulah so over-the-top magnetic — with, it must be said, incredible hair — that it’s easy to understand Maia’s insecurities by comparison. Having a friend who’s hot and fun in such a natural way that she can just make things happen is a blessing when it benefits you, and a curse when you inevitably get left behind.

But Sennott’s script is smart not to make Maia such a killjoy straightman opposite Tallulah. All I need to understand how these two were friends is their exchange as they wait in the line for the club Maia swore she didn’t want to go to:

Talullah: “You remember when I got roofied at Mr. Purple?”

Maia: “Yeah, that night was insane. They used to roofie people here, but then they fixed it.”

Tallulah: “Ugh, bummer.”

Maia: “Yeah, I know.”

These two, to quote a dearly departed HBO show, really did used to be The Disgusting Brothers.

We don’t see what happens after Tallulah somehow meets the club owner in the 30 seconds it takes Maia to humiliate herself while trying to cut the line. But it’s enough to leave Maia too hungover the next day to eat the supposedly great bagels Charlie waited so long in line for, or to join Tallulah when she insists they have to blow off her other plans and go to the beach. (What?? It’s L.A.!) Fed up and exhausted, Maia leaves Tallulah and Alani to go off on an idyllic montage — set to Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.,” obv — of getting stoned, hitting up Erewhon and vintage shops, and looking hot in bathing suits. Maia, meanwhile, spends all day frantically trying to get her fancy birthday dinner reservation to accept a fifth person at the last minute.

But by the time she and Dylan get to dinner, the reservation doesn’t even matter anymore, because Tallulah’s pulled another Tallulah. The extremely unimpressed hostess leads them away from the restaurant and up to an adjoining hotel suite, which Tallulah somehow managed to land for a mini surprise party. Even Charlie’s now “totally obsessed” with her, to Maia’s obvious annoyance. Worse still is the fact that Talullah also invited Alyssa, because Maia had told her that they were “basically best friends” instead of admitting that she didn’t get the promotion. The biggest indignity of all, though? Tallulah got the suite in exchange by telling the hotel that she was celebrating her birthday. When the cake comes floating towards Maia and the words “Happy Birthday, Talullah!” come into focus, it is, understandably, Maia’s 13th reason of the day.

Maia leaves her own party to be alone; Tallulah, refusing to read the room, goes after her. Though Dylan tries to follow, Charlie and Alani know better than to let him. It’s time for the girls to finally be honest in that most sacred of friendship spaces: the bathroom.

Sick of pretending she’s fine, Maia tells Tallulah the truth: “Having you here just reminds me of how good you’re doing without me, and I’m a fucking flop.” Luckily for her ego, though, they’re both flops! Tallulah reveals that she’s not only broke, but that she caught the rich guy she was dating DM’ing women for “titty pics.” At this, Maia’s instantly back on her side. “Ew! I’m sorry, just Google ‘boobs.’” Look, it may not be a cute instinct, but sometimes, all you need to get over a grudge with someone you truly love is to realize you’re on the same level (and that some men are gross and unoriginal, obviously).

With that, Maia and Tallulah are back. With only a Balenciaga bag and an incredible face card to her name, Tallulah decides that she may as well stay in L.A. — with Maia as her manager for real. As Peaches’ “Boys Wanna Be Her” kicks off, they yowl, “we’re gonna fucking KILL IT” in each other’s faces and scamper back into the suite, where a male stripper’s already getting the party started on Alyssa’s lap. After getting her own spin with him, Maia grabs Tallulah’s phone and directs her into the limelight instead. As long as they’re a team again, she doesn’t mind being the brains behind the star — until, inevitably, she does.

TALLULAH, La. (VDN) — Calvin Wilson and La’Niya Buie have been selected as Mr. and Miss Homecoming at Madison High School. They were officially crowned during last night’s football game.

Calvin Wilson:

Mr. Homecoming, Calvin Wilson, is the proud son of Mr. Calvin Wilson and Mrs. Frances Saldana.

An accomplished 11th-grade scholar at Madison High School, Wilson has established himself as a leader and role model among his peers. He is a dedicated athlete who proudly represents Madison High as a member of the football and track and field teams, where he currently serves as team captain. His leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship on and off the field make him a strong example of excellence in athletics.

Beyond his leadership roles, Wilson enjoys basketball, football, and video games. He also finds joy in riding four-wheelers and spending meaningful time with friends and family — activities that keep him grounded and connected to those who matter most.

Wilson lives by the quote, “Be so good, they can’t ignore you.” This principle pushes him to strive for greatness in the classroom, on the field, and in his personal life. His determination and work ethic set him apart as a young man destined for success.

La’Niya Buie:

Miss Homecoming, La’Niya Buie, is the proud daughter of Rachel Buie and Tremone Lee. She currently serves as captain of the MHS Majorettes for the Soul Rockers of the South Band and is also a member of the Madison High School Cheer Team. Her commitment to leadership, school spirit, and excellence makes her a true representative of Madison High tradition.

Buie credits her greatest influence to her mother, who, despite facing many challenges, has always been present and supportive of her and her siblings. That example of resilience and love continues to inspire her daily.

Her favorite quote is, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow.” For Buie, it serves as a reminder to embrace life’s changes with optimism and turn every moment into an opportunity for growth.

Looking toward the future, Buie plans to attend Alcorn State University, where she will pursue a degree in nursing with the goal of becoming an ultrasound technician.

She extends heartfelt gratitude to her mother, the Homecoming Committee, and the Royal Court for their support, encouragement, and belief in her throughout this journey.

Buie’s grace, determination, and dedication truly embody what it means to wear the crown of Miss Homecoming.
