“They’re looking forward to coming and are ready to see it. We’re going to have a wonderful show for them,” said Mike Shields, president of the ArkLaMiss Fair board with the West Monroe Civitan Club.
Shields said there will be plenty of room for everyone to come to the fair.
“We’ll have the whole east side parking lot available for people to come and park, and plenty of security that will be out this way. We’re looking forward to it,” said Shields.
Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell said the West Monroe Civitan Club serves as a sponsor for the fair and plays a big role in the community.
“West Monroe is very happy to have the fair and to have the West Monroe Civitans here at the Ike Hamilton, and raising money, because that money goes back into our entire community,” said Mayor Mitchell.
Mayor Mitchell said the fair pulls in people from all over the Northeast Louisiana region, and in turn, the city should expect to see a significant economic impact.
“When people come to our area, they may go shopping, they may fill up with gas, they may go do some other things, make a day of it, and make a weekend of it while they’re also enjoying the fair,” said Mayor Mitchell.
Shields said some other businesses and groups will be directly impacted by the fair as well.
“We’ve got a lot of nonprofit groups that are out here supporting their own schools, churches and organizations such as that. It’s their fundraising event for the year. They’re buying food from the grocers that you know that that they’re out here selling,” said Shields.
“The main thing is, come out here, enjoy yourselves and have a fun time here at the ArkLaMiss fair,” said Shields.
If you are looking to attend, admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children ages 2 to 11 years old.
