MOORPARK, CA (October 22, 2025) — A Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized following a crash on Los Angeles Avenue involving his patrol motorcycle and a pickup truck on Wednesday morning.
The crash was reported around 8:43 a.m. near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Millard Street, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt.
Steve Michalec. Authorities responded swiftly after receiving reports that one of their deputies had been involved in a collision while on duty.
Preliminary information suggests the deputy, who was operating a patrol motorcycle, collided with at least one other vehicle — reportedly a Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs.
The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. No additional injuries were reported.
The California Highway Patrol’s Moorpark office is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash, and further details remain under review.
As a result of the collision, authorities temporarily closed westbound Los Angeles Avenue (State Route 118) from Spring Road to Millard Street, a heavily trafficked commuter route.
CHP announced that lanes were expected to reopen by approximately 11:00 a.m.
