That is the short version of the Lanterns filming locations question, and it is worth knowing because the show is selling a very specific idea of American emptiness. James Gunn has compared the tone to the first season of True Detective, which means the geography has to carry weight the dialogue never states out loud.
Piru’s main drag is Center Street, and the production worked most of it, plus Market Street, Piru Square and the intersection at Main. Location trackers put the shoot there in the last week of March and the first days of April 2025, with a night sequence coming back on June 4. Nearby Fillmore picked up additional work along East Telegraph Road.
Piru gets cast as the Midwest a lot, and the reason is unglamorous. It has low buildings, wide streets, farmland at the edges and hills behind it, and it sits inside the thirty-mile zone where Los Angeles crews can work without travel budgets. A production that needs Nebraska on a schedule shoots an hour from the office instead.
What it costs the show is subtle. Ventura County light reads warmer and harder than Great Plains light, and those hills behind the wide streets sit where a real Nebraska horizon would keep going flat. The premiere gets around it with weather and lens choices more than with landscape.
Interiors came from the Warner Bros. lot at 4000 Warner Boulevard, where crews built the Stewart family house as a standing set. Principal photography ran from February into July 2025, with Collider reporting the scheduled window as February 10 through July 1 before cameras rolled.
Eight episodes were ordered. Most of what reads as location work in the premiere is really stage work with Piru exteriors cut around it, and that is why the Lanterns filming locations list stays so short. A series hitting a weekly delivery date on HBO cannot afford to lose days to a company move.

DC never announced an Atlanta plan, so treat the Nexus Point reporting as what it is, a well-sourced scoop rather than a studio confirmation. The direction of travel is clear enough anyway. Georgia has spent two years absorbing productions that fled California, and this is the reverse trip, which is why the state keeps landing new tax credit recipients while Georgia counts its own active productions.
Georgia still has DC work. Superman: Man of Tomorrow is at Trilith and the HBO Max spinoff American Villain is shooting in the state right now. The Lanterns filming locations list simply is not part of that column, and a Green Lantern show set in the middle of nowhere ended up an hour from Burbank instead.
