Home Care Cory, IN

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Levi and Catharine Coffin State Historic Site gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Cory, IN?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local The Capital Grille or visit Corydon Capitol State Historic Site, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Cory, IN, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your IN's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Cory, IN understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Cory, IN

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Cory, IN

Boy Meets World became a family sitcom phenomenon during its seven-season run on ABC from 1993 to 2000. Created by Michael Jacobs, the show followed the life and life lessons of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) from home with parents Alan (William Russ) and mother Amy (Betsy Randle) to school with neighbor and forever-teacher George Feeny (William Daniels). Cory's life wouldn't be complete without best friend Shawn (Rider Strong), brother Eric (Will Friedle) and his longtime love, Topanga (Danielle Fishel). Later, Shawn meets his long-lost brother, Jack (Matthew Lawrence), who quickly becomes part of the group. Disney Channel premiered a spinoff titled Girl Meets World in 2014, which followed Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), as she worked her way through school with her dad as her teacher. Most of the original Boy Meets World cast made guest appearances on the series, which ended in 2017, with others writing and directing several episodes. "A reunion show that’s one and done. But to actually take the children of Cory and Topanga and watch on two levels [as they] grow up and as Cory and Topanga keep growing up, I can’t resist that,” Jacobs told Entertainment Weekly in December 2019. “I can’t resist that and I’m very hopeful the audience won’t resist it either." After Boy Meets World ended in 2000, Savage appeared in multiple episodes of other TV shows, including Still Standing, Chuck, Without a Trace and Bones. He then landed a role in Girl Meets World and directed 10 episodes. He's appeared in two episodes of Criminal Minds and in the final season of Homeland — in both shows, playing a younger version of Mandy Patinkin.

In January 2023, Savage announced via Instagram that he was engaged to girlfriend Tessa Angermeier. “The best is yet to come,” he captioned a photo of the twosome that features Angermeier wearing a diamond ring. The couple tied the knot one month later.

Friedle has voiced Nightwing/Dick Grayson in multiple animated Batman films and voiced Batman in all three seasons of Batman Beyond. He voiced Ron Stoppable in Kim Possible from 2002 to 2007 on Disney Channel. His post-Boy Meets World career consists of a ton of voice roles, including voicing Peter Quill/Star-Lord in multiple Avengers animated projects.

Friedle reprised his Boy Meets World character in multiple episodes of Girl Meets World and penned a season 2 episode. He tied the knot with wife Susan Martens in 2016.

In June 2022, Friedle announced he would be part of the “Pod Meets World” podcast, on which he and his former costars Strong and Fishel rewatch Boy Meets World and discuss their time on the series.

Strong went on to star in horror hit Cabin Fever in 2002 and landed a role on Broadway in 2006. He later appeared in multiple episodes of Girl Meets World and directed 18 episodes. In 2013, he married Alexandra Barreto and they welcomed a son the next year. He has cohosted the “Pod Meets World” podcast with Fishel and Friedle since 2022.

After Boy Meets World, Fishel was a correspondent on The Tyra Banks Show and hosted The Dish and Say What? Karaoke. She went to college at 27 in 2012 and met Tim Belusko, whom she later married. Two years after their 2016 split, Fishel tied the knot with husband Jensen Karp, with whom she shares two sons. Fishel not only reprised her role on Girl Meets World, but she directed four episodes and wrote one. Fishel has since launched a hair care line called Be Free and cohosts “Pod Meets World”with Friedle and Strong.

The two-time Emmy award winner had an epic career before and after Boy Meets World. After the sitcom wrapped, he appeared on King of Queens, The Closer, Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy. He also returned for five episodes of Girl Meets World. He has been married to Bonnie Bartlett since 1951, and the two adopted two sons.

She is married to film editor John Randle and they have two children. In addition to appearing in two episodes of Girl Meets World, Randle appeared in The Beat, Charmed, Adam Ruins Everything and Dirty 30.

Although he had a successful career before Boy Meets World, Russ' success continued after, starring in movies including A Fork in the Road, Green Guys, California Solo and Drones. He also returned to TV, appearing on Crossing Jordan, Deadwood, CSI: NY, Boston Legal and landing a recurring role on The Ex List. He appeared in two episodes of the spinoff and directed one.

Russ’ recent acting credits include shows such as Bosch, 9-1-1 and Animal Kingdom, as well as movies such as Founders Day, Keeping Company and Chasing the Rain. He is married to Clare Wren and they have two children.

In 2017, he started a band with his brothers Joey and Andy Lawrence, called Still Three. He also starred in Boston Public, Melissa & Joey, Workaholics and one episode of Girl Meets World. After being briefly engaged to Heidi Mueller from 2004 to 2006, he began dating Cheryl Burke in February 2007. The couple married in 2019 and later divorced in 2022. Lawrence has been dating TLC member Rozonda Thomas, a.k.a. Chilli, since 2022.

Now that the winner is finally declared at the end of the season, many Big Brother fans might be wondering if Cory and America are still together.

The name of the series, which is based on the original Dutch reality TV show of the same name, is inspired by the character Big Brother George Orwell’s 1949 book, Nineteen Eighty-Four. Unlike other reality TV shows, housemates on Big Brother are continually monitored throughout their time in the house by live television cameras and personal audio microphones. Viewers at home can watch the contestants 24/7 via the Big Brother live feeds, which show what’s happening in the house days before they air on TV, which means everything they say is captured.

Fans who caught up with Big Brother 25 well know that Cory and America were one of the show’s most wholesome romances on the show. From friends to lovers, the two were monitored every moment from late-night talks to kissing lessons and strategizing. Cory got eliminated in week 11 while America didn’t last too long after him.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the season finale, Cory said the best thing about being on the Jury was the privacy. “For me, it’s definitely the no cameras. I mean, I’m a person who really appreciates my privacy and wants to have time alone. And in the Big Brother house, even when you do have time alone, that time alone is shared with the thousands watching live feeds from the cameras. So not having that, I feel like I can finally take a breath, and I just can’t overstate how amazing that’s been.”

In a confessional aired before the finale, Cory poured out his feelings to his new girlfriend. “America, we have spent three months together in this house but it feels like it’s been years. And it still hasn’t been enough. It’s been the privilege of my life to be able to share this opportunity with someone I care about so much.”

So are Cory and America still together after Big Brother? Read more to find out.

The Glee star had no idea that his attempt at sparking fake romance rumors was undermined by an actual relationship

Kevin McHale is spilling ridiculous Glee tea.

On an episode of his podcast And That's What You Really Missed with his Glee costar Jenna Ushkowitz, the actor revealed that he attempted to start rumors about Lea Michele and Cory Monteith to make the TV show more popular.

He explained his master plan: “what if I pretend to take a picture of Jenna, and in the background, the very edge of frame, are Cory and Lea being like a little extra snuggly, or kissing or holding hands or something,” he recalled thinking. “I said, ‘I’ll put it up, and wait a little bit for people to notice, and then I’ll delete like I did something wrong.’ Because the intention was, we’re going to get rumors started that Cory and Lea are dating, and then people will watch the show, and then we’ll get to make more seasons of it.”

McHale also said that Michele was in on the plan from the beginning. “Lea was like, ‘yes, absolutely. Let’s do it,’” he said.

“And so I do it. I post it,” he continued. “And I’m like updating, and everyone’s like ‘what’s going on? Have people noticed?’ and I’m like ‘no, no one’s noticed, no one’s saying anything,’ and then at the first reference, [when] one person said something, I deleted it. And I remember checking Twitter, and then it got picked up, and was like all over [the internet].”

It wasn’t until much later that McHale discovered his costars were actually dating. “In January was the SAG awards,” he recalled. “And we were at the afterparty, and Lea sits me down, and she’s like, ‘Did you know, we had actually started dating then.’”

Kevin McHale once found himself accidentally a part of something special.

The Glee alum recently revealed some new details behind the picture that launched a thousand rumors—that photo of Lea Michele and Cory Monteith looking extra cozy on the show's set. As it turns out, not only was the photo staged, but there was more to the story than even he realized at the time.

"I was like, 'I'm sitting across the room, what if I pretend to take a picture of Jenna? And in the background, the very edge of frame are Cory and Lea being a little extra snuggly,'" he revealed during the Dec. 21 episode of his And That's What You REALLY Missed podcast with fellow cast member Jenna Ushkowitz. And I said, 'I'll put it up and wait a little bit, for people to notice and then I'll delete it, like I did something wrong.'"

It was an ultimately successful attempt to, as he put it, "Get rumors started that Cory and Lea are dating, and then people will watch the show and then we'll get to make more seasons of it."

photos20 Shocking Glee Secrets Revealed

And as the 35-year-old explained, once Lea said she was game, they staged the photo and Kevin shared it to X, then Twitter, reading the many responses to the photo and deleting it upon the first mention of the cozy looking pair in the edge of frame.

"And then it got picked up," Kevin remembered, "and it was all over the entertainment sites."

But while the actor believed he had staged a relationship, in reality the pair—who ended up dating for over a year before Cory's untimely death in 2013—were already singing a love song when the photo was taken.

"Then in January was the SAG Awards," Kevin continued, "and we were at the after-party and Lea sits me down and she's like, 'Did you know, we had actually started dating then?'"

Yes, in a Glee-worthy twist, it turns out Lea and Cory's onscreen love as Rachel and Finn had already made it to real life when the photo was taken.

In the years since Cory's passing—the anniversary of which the Funny Girl alum often pays tribute to on social media—Lea has tied the knot with Zandy Reich, with whom she shares 2-year-old son Ever.

The HGTV star says there were "a couple things that happened towards the end" of the HGTV show that she "can’t move on from"

Mina Starsiak Hawk is opening up about the status of her relationship with Good Bones costar Cory Miller after the show ended two months ago.

In the latest episode of her podcast, Mina AF, the HGTV star answers fans’ questions, including one asking whether the pair are still friends, as they no longer follow each other on Instagram.

“So, there’s been enough questions about Cory that I’m going to try to address this in a respectful way, again, understanding that I have a platform that he maybe doesn’t have,” she said of Miller, who served as project manager on her long-running show. “Cory and I are not on speaking terms. I am positive that there are things he feels like I did to him, and I’ve known him since he was 11, and I’ve always had a soft spot for him.”

She shared that there were "a couple things that happened towards the end" that she decided she "can’t move on from."

"I just don’t want that energy in my life,” she added. “I’ve got a lot of amazing people, and part of that means not hate-following or not anger-following like, ‘Let me see what this person is doing.’”

Good Bones, on which Starsiak Hawk renovated Indianapolis homes alongside her mom, Karen E. Laine, and their team, wrapped up its eight-season run in October. The mother-daughter duo started their business, Two Chicks and a Hammer, in 2007.

“So many people on social media follow people just ‘cause they want to see them fail or fall down or look fat in a picture or whatever it is,” Starsiak Hawk continued of her reasons for not following. “And I’m just not interested in that. I don’t want other people to do it to me.”

“I just kind of wanted to separate that out from my world, and he probably wanted to do the same,” she continued. “It’s a super bummer because I have historically had a great relationship with Cory, and when things end particularly like they did, people’s colors just show a little more, which is a blessing because then I have the choice to make a different choice.”

Mina Starsiak Hawk Will Reopen Recently Closed 2 Chicks District Co. Store in a New City (Exclusive)

In a September episode of Mina AF, Starsiak Hawk noted that “the boys” from her team seen on Good Bones weren't actually employed by her anymore, despite being part of the show.

“Austin [Aynes] was the most recent employee, but Tad [Starsiak] and Cory haven’t for a long time,” she said.

Mina — who’s also been candid about tensions with her mom and her brother Tad — acknowledged the challenges that came with finding fame on the show in a previous episode of her podcast released ahead of Good Bones’ finale.

“I think I knew … that this was going to be hard and it was going to challenge relationships, because when you put anything under a spotlight, in a pressure cooker, there’s the opportunity to explode,” she said. “And I myself am not stable enough to not explode at times."

Mina noted that her "whole complicated family organization," many members of which have been involved in her business and in the creation of Good Bones, includes a lot of different personalities and "people with so many different issues, weaknesses, things left to learn.”

However, Starsiak Hawk revealed to PEOPLE this week that she’s looking forward to "a nice fresh start" as she’s planning to reopen her recently closed Indianapolis store, 2 Chicks District Co., in a new city.

“There's so many cool Queen Anne Victorians,” she said. “There was one that I kind of had my eye on that's like a block off the square that's just a mess, which is perfect to me.”
