Johnathan Shaw had eight rebounds and two blocks, and Steve Petteway had seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Carmello Browne had a solid game with 16 points and seven rebounds. Razell Tann-Johnson scored 14 points and connected on four straight 3 pointers in the third quarter to give the Bookers a cushion heading into the fourth.

Game MVP Carmelo Swinson had 23 points, six rebounds and six assists. Larry Williams and Tyrell Beverly both finished with 13 points for the Greyhounds.

The Warriors (8-3) ended a two-game slide as Izzy Lewis scored 11 points in Western Branch’s showcase. Nansemond River outscored the Patriots 17-3 in the third quarter. All-Showcase selection Landon Ames had eight points, three steals and three rebounds for Nansemond River, and he held Denbigh season-leading scorer Kevin Parker to eight points, 10 fewer than his average. Jayden Walker led the Patriots with 16 points.

Brandon Freeman had 20 points, five rebounds and six assists for the Class 2 Panthers against the Class 6 Bruins. Kareem Davis had 17 points, four steals and three blocks, and Khamani Phillips had 16 points and five rebounds.

Sincere Jones’ triple-double of 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists propelled the Truckers. They went on an 11-1 run for a 28-21 halftime lead and held on. Jones had 10 points in the fourth quarter, when Churchland outscored the Phantoms 20-12. Jeremiah Fisher had 12 rebounds, and Tamar Cross had 12 points. Phoebus was led by Cam Taylor with 21 points and CJ Diehl with 12.

Deep Creek 96, Nansemond River 73
The Hornets’ 200 medley relay of Troy Salpeter, Tyler Swartz, Ian Garth and Dahmon Harmon qualified for state with a time of 1:56.92. The Hornets won every event except the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
