A slow-moving storm will have the potential to produce 1 to 3 inches of rainfall per hour in the area on Wednesday.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A Flood Watch has been issued for Somerset County ahead of a slow-moving storm on Wednesday.
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, according to the National Weather Service(NWS).
The Watch is in effect through 1 a.m. on Thursday.
"A high precipitable water airmass is moving over the Mid- Atlantic and will combine with a frontal system to produce highly efficient slow moving showers and thunderstorms," said the NWS.
These storms will have the potential to produce 1 to 3 inches of rainfall per hour which, over the urban corridor, could result in flash flooding, especially over impervious surfaces.
If storms end up back building, the potential exists for up to 6 inches of storm total rainfall over very isolated areas.
