Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Pasquale Capobianco; her parents, Rita and Joseph Ondike; and her brother, Richard Ondike.
Her memory will live on in the laughter, music, meals, celebrations, and countless special moments she shared with those she loved. Rita had a way of making life feel a little brighter, and she will never be forgotten.

Monroe Township is doubling down on its data center ban.
Officials recently requested to dismiss a $300 million lawsuit from Hexa Builders — a Princeton-based real estate developer that wants to build a 1 million-square-foot data center — that challenges the municipality’s ban.
The saga continues as Hexa Builders pushes for the case to go back to state court instead of federal.
Meanwhile, Collingswood pursued its own ban through an ordinance that would amend the borough’s code.
Other South Jersey municipalities to consider and pass similar bans include Cherry Hill, Millville, and Medford.
Freelance journalist Benjamin Shore can file as many public records requests as he wants in South Jersey.
When the Cherry Hill Board of Education filed a 128-page lawsuit back in February, it claimed the “numerous, repeated, and vexatious” requests he filed under the state’s Open Public Records Act qualified as harassment.
Superior Court Judge Michael Mikulski disagreed. On July 31, the judge dismissed the case and stated the district failed to provide evidence of ill-intent.

The Monroe Township Board of Education voted last week to begin the process of considering tenure charges that could lead to the removal of Superintendent Chari Chanley.
The board voted to appoint a special counsel to review Chanley’s actions and draft the tenure charges, if warranted. Tenure charges are the formal process school districts use to seek discipline or the removal of a tenured educator or administrator.
The measure passed 7-2 at the Aug. 19 school board meeting in the Middlesex County township. Board members Peter Tufano and Eric Marozine cast the only dissenting votes. One board member recused herself.

Chanley spoke at the meeting, urging board members not to take further action and to allow her to return to work.
The vote marks the latest development in a dispute that has left Chanley on paid administrative leave since May 2025. The board has not said why the superintendent is on leave.
At the meeting, Chanley said she is also challenging the board’s actions through pending court and administrative proceedings.
Chanley shared details about the employment dispute, including her views of a mediation process that broke down.
“I believe firmly that I did nothing that warrants my resignation or removal from the position I have served honorably,” she said.
Chanley said she was placed on leave after refusing what she described as “a directive that I believe was arbitrary and capricious.” She later participated in a four-hour interview with a board-retained investigator, she said.
“The findings from that investigation were subsequently presented during mediation,” Chanley said. “Based on what was presented, it became clear that there was no conduct that warranted the pursuit of tenure charges.”
Chanley earned $225,965 as superintendent during the 2025-26 school year, according to state pay records.
The Aug. 19 vote to consider tenure charges followed a contentious exchange at the meeting that highlighted divisions within the board.
Board member Tufano questioned whether proper procedures had been followed and repeatedly pressed board leaders and attorneys about who authorized sharing an investigative report with special counsel. At one point, he accused fellow board members of trying to damage Chanley’s career and failing to follow established procedures.
“You’re not following rules. You’re not following ethics,” he said. “You’re just a gang.”
Before the vote on appointing the special counsel, board members voted to invoke New Jersey’s doctrine of necessity. The doctrine allows officials with conflicts of interest to participate in specific votes when a public body otherwise lacks enough members to act.
Board attorney Adam Weiss said six school board members had conflicts related to litigation involving Chanley, leaving the board without enough eligible members to act on matters concerning her employment.
Chanley challenged the board’s use of the doctrine.
“This personnel matter does not meet the standard required for the doctrine of necessity to be invoked,” she said.
