SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Who doesn't love big machines? Kids and adults of all ages enjoy watching construction equipment do their jobs. This is what makes the upcoming Dozer Day NJ such a special experience. Not only do attendees get to see construction equipment in action, they get to actually make it work. This fun family-friendly interactive experience is headed to the Garden State on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Operating Engineers Local 825 Training Facility Local 825 Training Center, which is located at 338 Deans Rhode Hall Road in the Dayton section of South Brunswick Township.
October's Dozer Day is hosted by NUCA New Jersey and provides attendees with the unique chance to fundraise for area charities while also showcasing workforce development in skilled trade fields. This is the first time this noteworthy event will be held in New Jersey.
“I’m thrilled to be part of NUCA-New Jersey’s first annual Dozer Day," National Utility Contractor’s Association NJ Chapter President Lisa E. Chowansky said. “Dozer Day is an innovative workforce development program that introduces young people across the country to the utility construction industry and the opportunity for a meaningful, productive future.”
“As a New Jersey-based contractor, I understand the importance of building a strong future workforce and creating opportunities for New Jersey’s youth in the construction industry,” Chowansky continued. "The NUCA-NJ Dozer Day team is committed to growing this unique, hands-on event each year to provide career education, visibility and opportunity for New Jersey youth.”
Dozer Day is different than the touch-a-truck events many New Jersey communities host each year. At Dozer Day, kids get the opportunity to climb on board actual bulldozers, excavators, backhoes and other construction equipment and operate them, under the close supervision of professional operators, of course. In addition to getting to literally sit in the driver's seat, this super fun event also features cool activities for kids of all ages, tasty food trucks, sponsor giveaways and much more.
General admission tickets are $10 per attendee. Children two and under are free, but Dozer Day does ask that parents add a free ticket to their online order for each attending toddler two and under. Doing so helps the event track the number of attendees. An entry ticket is required for every attendee as well. Tickets for the October 24 Dozer Day can be purchased online. There is a $2.14 processing fee added to each ticket purchased. Free tickets for kids aged two and under do not have a processing fee.
In the event the weather does not cooperate with Dozer Day, the rain date is Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information about New Jersey Dozer Day, visit their website.
