BORDENTOWN, NJ — Of course, the games still need to be played and the competition is definitely real, but the excitement and optimism surrounding the 2026 Bordentown High School football program is justified on many levels. The Scotties are scheduled to host Florence on Friday, September 4.
Bordentown had a fine 2025 campaign with an overall record of 7-2 (5-1 in the West Jersey Football League National Division). They also advanced to the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 2 Sectional Tournament quarterfinal round last season.
This season the Scotties now compete in the WJFL Patriot Division along with Florence, Riverside, Maple Shade, KIPP and Camden Catholic.
“We have a large group of 22 seniors this season,’’ Bordentown head coach Skip Edwards said. “The entire backfield is back with two very good receivers. Our offensive line has three starters back. Our outlook for the season is one game at a time, no looking past a team. We have underclass players who are going to fit in nicely. We need to come out for the first game and be focused.’’
Among the key returning varsity tested student athletes for the Scotties this year are Jose Santiago (208 rushes, 774 yards, nine touchdowns, 41 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions, Honorable Mention All Division in 2025), Thomas Lee (57 rushes, 313 yards, four touchdowns, 54-83 passing attempts, 770 yards, 11 touchdown passes, Honorable Mention All Division in 2025), Connor Bramley (12 receptions, 332 yards, five touchdowns, 48 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, three sacks, All Division and All Burlington County in 2025), Jumari Glover (15 receptions, 151 yards, two touchdowns, 32 tackles, one tackle for a loss, four interceptions, All Division and All Burlington County in 2025), Lucas Schwartz (29 point after attempts made, All Division and All Burlington County in 2025), Carter Stumpf (58 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, All Division and All Burlington County in 2025).
Promising newcomers to the varsity lineup for the Scotties this fall include Jacob Blanding (running back and outside linebacker), Demetrius Briggs (running back and outside linebacker), Sejean Bryan (receiver and defensive back), Noah Lucas (receiver and defensive back), Chase Foster (offensive line and defensive line), Jacob Warren (offensive line and defensive line), Gabe Fresco (offensive line and defensive line), Bryton Ledix (offensive line and defensive line), Jason Chapdelaine (offensive line and defensive line), Stephen Obeng-Adjei (tight end and defensive tackle) and Andrew Gibbings (receiver and defensive back).
“There are some key positions that need to be filled to complete our starting team,’’ Edwards said. “Offensively, our quarterback Thomas Lee is playing his third year as is Jose Santiago, Carter Stumpf, Jumari Glover, Isaac Salgado, Jacob Warren, Conner Bramley and Gianni Jones.
“Defensively, we have Bramley starting for his fourth year as well as Stumpf. We have Chris Malcolm, Lawrence Massaquoi and Jon Owens back on the line with Jacob Blanding, Demetrius Briggs all having game experience. Greg Stalnaker is starting his third season at free safety, he has two touchdowns on interceptions. Newcomer Alex Augustine is stepping in as a linebacker. Our kicker is back for his fourth season, Lucas Schwartz kicked 29 extra points last season with two field goals over 30 yards. Special team players to keep an eye out for are Aiden Peters, Connor Peters, Alex Augustine, Sejean Bryan, Jacob Blanding, Demetirus Briggs and Gianni Jones.’’
