Our community is moving forward, and I am excited to share that the first openings are expected later this year at Montgomery Promenade.
I recently spoke with the developer, Jeff Garrison, about progress in the new, mixed-use community that is going to offer many amenities to our current residents right here, in our own township. In fact, we have a rare opportunity to be a municipality where residents can live, work, and enjoy time with family and friends.
Exterior walls of the long-awaited Whole Foods are expected to start standing tall in the next few weeks, with an anticipated opening date in 2026 for the grocer.

During my conversation, the developer told me the retail space is 75% leased with agreements inked by Shake Shack, Woof Gang Bakery, Hallmark, Panera, Ulta,, and Body Rock Pilates.
In typical Montgomery fashion, our township committee, resident volunteers, professionals and staff approached the original project proposal through a forward-thinking lens.
As part of the site work, enhancements to Route 206 and Route 518 include widening and intersection safety features. These now are being installed by the developer. These changes will ensure traffic moves in and around the site with ease.
The plan also includes outdoor spaces, including open palisades for walking and outdoor dining, which were important requests of our review bodies that are coming to fruition.
Collaboration with the developer has been consistent and I am asked daily about what residents wish to see in this new destination plaza.
We welcome your input and are eager for you to share your ideas by sending an email to our information officer at [email protected].
Of even more excitement is the prospect of a new rateable joining our community. Right now, our homes make up a large portion of the tax base. Once the Promenade is open, nearly 300,000 square feet of retail space will contribute taxes to our schools, programs, and services. This will be much-needed relief for taxpayers who have been shouldering much of these costs.
Additionally, this makes our community enticing for companies looking to join us in existing commercial spaces. Township committee is focused on economic development across Montgomery that attracts businesses, creates local jobs, provides resources, and fosters a positive business environment.
Across New Jersey, there has been an increasing percentage of vacant commercial space, but we are confident our location and the features we offer will lead to new leases signed at some of our corporate facilities soon.
For that reason, we hosted the first Montgomery Innovation Summit on May 22. Township leaders collaborated with state and county business officials to welcome entrepreneurs to our municipal center. We offered networking, as well as a showcase of our community and available office spaces. Our business advocate is prepared to help companies set up shop in Montgomery.
If you or someone you know is looking for a community with an intelligent, skilled workforce, look no further than Montgomery. Our team at the municipal center is ready to make your move smooth, and to support your company in a place where everyone can enjoy living and working. ?
