LONG BRANCH, NJ — Netflix crews will be filming in the city of Long Branch for the next two weeks, and actor/comedian Kevin Hart may be spotted around town with them.
Hart is filming his new comedy movie "72 Hours" in Long Branch. The movie portrays Hart as a 40-year-old who tries to save his flailing career by joining a group of twentysomethings on a wild three-day bachelor party weekend, after he’s accidentally added to their group text, according to Netflix.
The movie will be directed by Tim Story ("Barbershop," "Think Like a Man"); Marcello Hernández from "Saturday Night Live" will play the groom’s best man.
The movie will be filming in Long Branch from June 2 through June 15, according to Long Branch city business administrator Charles Shirley. But the movie will also be filming nightclub scenes June 17, June 24 and 26 also in New Jersey, according to the casting agency. But those may not be in Long Branch; their location has not been revealed.
Film crews were spotted Tuesday outside a large oceanfront estate in the city's wealthy Elberon section, the Asbury Park Press reported. Netflix is also using the parking lots at Saint Stephanos Armenian Church and St. Michael's Roman Catholic church as base camps.
Grant Wilfley casting company — which handles many of the casting calls for movies filmed in New Jersey — already put out a public casting call saying it is looking for "attractive extras" to appear in the movie. They are looking for extras who want to appear in nightclub scenes and yacht party scenes. Just Thursday, Grant Wilfley added that they are also looking for people to appear in open-air bar scenes:
"Seeking people to portray attractive 18-35yo #openairbar #patrons for the feature film 72 HOURS," Grant Wilfley wrote Thursday on its Facebook page. "Pay rate: SAG: $216/8hrs. Are you available for the tentative work date(s) 6/17 in New Jersey?"
"Casting calls have already gone out for extras to play clubgoers and yacht partygoers," said the casting agency. "Interested actors can submit their credentials to [email protected] with subject line 'FB YACHT PARTY' or 'FB CLUB,' depending on which role they want to tryout for."

Since their 2023 move to Seabrook, the Erickson Senior Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J. Judy and Frank Albert have enjoyed their daily three-mile power walk along the boardwalk in Asbury Park. In fact, only heavy rain keeps the couple from their daily exercise on the beaches of the Jersey Shore, just five miles away.
"I'm a big fan of fresh air and I love the ocean," says Judy. "It's a great way to start the day. It's just so beautiful down here. Frank and I wanted to be able to come to the beach often to walk on the boardwalk and watch the waves. The ocean gives us a feeling of peace, and we just love it."
Best of all worlds
Whether watching the sunrise, attending an outdoor concert, or strolling along the boardwalk, the Alberts take full advantage of the short car ride to the beach. Like many Seabrook residents, they chose the community in large part due to the added benefit of being close to the beach.
"Many people have a connection to the area, having either spent summers at the Jersey Shore with their families or living nearby for decades," says Brian Cassidy, the community's sales director.
"In addition to the vibrant lifestyle full of activities and amenities, Seabrook is the best retirement option located within a short distance to these beaches," he adds. "This helps our residents maintain their connection to the shore, reflect on the many memories they have at the beach, and enjoy the opportunity to create new memories with their family members and friends."
Thoughtful decision-making
Judy and Frank first considered moving from their Paramus, N.J., home of 47 years when their closest neighbors and friends began making plans to leave the area. At the same time, they began receiving mailers from nearby continuing care retirement communities.
"We got to the point where we agreed the house was just too much to keep up with, and we were thinking about the next phase of our lives," Frank notes. "We wanted something that required little effort to upkeep. We wanted easy living."
The first mailer the Alberts received was from Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J. The more they learned about maintenance-free living, and freedom from the responsibility of yard work and home repairs, the more intrigued they were.
"At that time, we would be driving back from vacation and I'd be thinking about the roof or the water heater leaking," Judy says. "Since our move to Seabrook, we just lock the door, and away we go. We don't have to worry about anything happening while we're gone, or at any time. If we need a repair, we just call the General Services department and they take care of everything."
Narrowing the choices
Impressed with what they learned, the Alberts joined Cedar Crest's Priority List, expressing interest in a two-bedroom, two-bath floor plan with a balcony. While they waited for a residence to become available, Frank continued researching continuing care retirement communities and discovered Seabrook in the ideal location for them.
When they first visited the community, they were greeted by enthusiastic current residents who encouraged them to join the community.
"Sometimes you walk into a place and you just feel it's home," Judy explains. "Seabrook met all of the criteria that we wanted. We knew we would be comfortable here."
At that point, Judy and Frank transferred their Priority List membership to Seabrook before moving to the community in June 2023.
Plenty to do
Since their move, the couple has maintained a busy calendar of activities. In addition to their frequent visits to the beach, Judy, a former marathon runner, appreciates the many options she and Frank enjoy for exercise including walks along the one-mile Seabrook Trail, visits to the state-of-the-art fitness center, playing bocce, and swimming in the all-season indoor pool.
When they're not exercising, Judy attends meetings of the retired nurses club, writers' group, and meditation group. Together, the couple serve as volunteers with the Seabrook resident ambassador program, meeting with prospective residents and sharing their experiences and reasons for choosing Seabrook.
"It's rewarding to meet with people considering a move here," Judy says. "We love to spread the word about the benefits of living in such a wonderful community."

Ross Stores has moved into stores that were emptied as part of the bankruptcy of retailer Bed Bath & Beyond. The West Long Branch store is located in the former buybuy Baby space. In Brick, Ross is taking over a former Bed Bath & Beyond store.
It's nice to see some of these large vacated buildings being reused.
Both locations will open on July 19th.
