Pine Devil Pizza, Ocean County's newest pizzeria, opened Monday, Oct. 6, in Lakehurst.
The restaurant, 314 Route 70, is owned by Carlo Boemio Jr., whose family owns Three B's Bar & Bistro and Italian market Boemio & Sons, both of which are in the same plaza as the new pizzeria.
"Known for its welcoming atmosphere and creative menu, Three B’s has been a Lakehurst favorite for years," reads a news release. "With Pine Devil Pizza, the Boemio family expands their local legacy, bringing the same dedication to great food, genuine service and community connection to a new concept focused on artisanal pizza and casual Italian comfort."
The menu features nearly half a dozen regional styles of pizza: classic, thin-crusted New York; a grandma pie baked in a square pan; airy-crusted Sicilian; Detroit with a cheesy, well-done crust; and thin Neapolitan cooked at high heat.
Each comes in a variety of flavors, like the "Firebird" New York pie with chicken cutlets and hot cherry pepper relish; a white grandma pie with pepperoni and hot honey; vegetable-topped Sicilian and Detroit pizzas; and the "Fig & Pig" Neapolitan with prosciutto, caramelized onions, Gorgonzola cream, fresh mozzarella, fig jam and arugula.

The pizzeria also makes gluten-free, vegan and gluten-free vegan pizzas.
Pine Devil Pizza's menu also includes a variety of hot dog styles: Chicago, with mustard, relish, onion, pickles, tomatoes, sport peppers and celery salt; American, with beef chili, diced onions and mustard; and a "Devil Dog" with hot cherry pepper relish, fried onions, Cooper Sharp cheese and chipotle spread.
And there are seven kinds of garlic knots, including ones tossed with pesto and cheese, Buffalo sauce and blue cheese, and hot honey.
Sandwiches, including chicken, eggplant and meatball parm, sausage with peppers and onions, a pastrami Reuben, and cheesesteaks, plus appetizers and Italian entre?es round out the offerings.
